True Detective Season 1

Justified

I love the whole vibe; the locations, the music. It's all ace.

Not sure they fit the American Gothic genre but Mississipi Burning and Selma are 2 cracking films.

Yep, great show. I ordered on dvd a couple of years back.

 

Be sure to watch it in the correct order though, ITV cocked it up when they aired it showing some episodes in the wrong order losing loads of viewers as nobody knew what was going on.

The Outsider is fantastic and set in Georgia I think. Definitely one of the better Stephen King adaptations and a great cast.

 

Not sure I’d call it American Gothic (to be fair most of these aren’t American gothic) but Your Honour with Bryan Cranston was set in New Orleans and is decent. 
 

Lovecraft county is good and set in the Jim Crow era south. 
 

Season two of Mindhunter deals with the Atlanta child murders. Bloodline on Netflix is set in Florida.

Not sure if it counts as it's set in Texas rather than the 'deep' South, but The Hot Spot is a pretty good thriller (and Jennifer Connelly is worth watching anyway).
