The reservations have gone live - be warned, the Steam store is extremely slow right now as you might imagine with the clamour from around the globe.

You pay £4 now to reserve a device, and then pay the remaining cost when you complete the actual purchase when Valve/Steam contact you in December when a device is available.

You can cancel your reservation at any time. If you cancel within 30 days, the reservation fee is reimbursed to you via your payment method. After 30 days, the reservation fee will be reimbursed to your Steam account/wallet.

I've just popped in a reservation for the 512Gb model and will be paying close attention to future hands-on reviews, etc...

I ordered one earlier, the 256. Don’t know why I need another gadget and I may end up cancelling it. I have a decent steam game library, mainly strategy games and I’m going to have a good look at reviews too before I decide one way or another.

Delayed until February. No real surprise.

Gives me a couple of months to recover from Christmas, so there's that...

Steam Deck Shipping Update

The launch of Steam Deck will be delayed by two months. We’re sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.

Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping to customers February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly. Reservation date estimates will be updated shortly after this announcement.

Again, we’re sorry we won’t be able to make our original ship date. We’ll continue working to improve reservation dates based on the new timeline, and will keep folks updated as we go.
