The lack of love for top quality foreign filmmaking would make Farage proud.

Another bleak day in the history of The Mighty GF.

Nobody else voted for the Babadook? That's a shame.

It's the nature of these things, sadly. I thought it was a terrific film although I didn't have it in my 10. Kermode's best film of 2014, incidentally, and Inside Out was his best of 2015; we were the only people who nominated either.

Honestly, you could make a long list of excellent films that didn't even pick up a single nomination (Toy Story 3? Kill List? The Martian? Zootopia/Zootropolis? Moonlight?)

Flight..

I think if more people had seen End of Watch it might have made the cut. Only 1 vote (Rapey I think)

Flight script writers - ok, let's write a serious script about alcoholism in the airline industry, rife amongst pilots. We've even got Denzel onboard to grin his way through film.

Producer - we need more action. How about clagging on a scene where he loops the loop in a jumbo jet and flies upside down wiping out a church steeple but heroically saving all church goers and passengers?

Script writers - err...

The rolling of the plane meant he saved more lives when 20 other pilots in a simulator had them all dead. It's the main part of the plot. A drunk but a hero all the same.

I had Zootopia on a long list, but gave up to avoid another Ratatouille fiasco.

You give the film far too much credit, that scene is a jarring plot device, completely and utterly out of kilter with the rest of the film completely.

There was no reason at all to do the ridiculous loop the loop upside down shenanigans when any number of other, far more realistic plot devices would have served a "serious" film far better.

The sheer ridiculousness of that first scene completely undermines the rest of the film. Like I say, it's neither this nor that.

I like the film. Not for that scene (which I agree is a bit mad but not mad enough to derail it the way it has for you) but for his fight with addiction particularly the hotel room scene which is absolutely outstanding. Also, Katarina Marquez has amazing tits and a fantastic arse (right at the beginning for fleshofthestars.com fanatics)
