Colonel Sanders was in charge of a team of troops who had the job of rounding up deserters and executing them during the 1812 war. It was his most infamous act of pouring oil on some deserters and setting fire to them in Kentucky that inspired Dwight Orang to create his fast food empire some 146 years later.
