In reality he's our only cb.

I'm not sure in reality he's our only centre back. I mean, I get that there's some concern about VVD, but that doesn't mean Nat Phillips is our only centre back. VVD, Gomez, Matip, and Konate don't just stop existing because we don't know the future. I'd keep him, unless we can. get a decent fee and reinvest.

Huge year for him - almost signed for Swansea this time last year but they wouldn't bump up to £3m and now he'll be a starter for a Premiership side. If he was 21 I'd say keep him and let him battle - but he is 25 and needs to play, keeping him as 4th/5th choice isn't fair on him.

Just a hunch but I reckon without a bunch of world class athletes around him I don’t think he will look as assured but in a shithouse team that stick ten men behind the ball he certainly won’t look out of place at this level. Maybe Kloppo see Rhys as a better fit for 5th choice what with him being younger.

I'd keep him for at least one more season. It's imperative we have a good go at winning the title and Champions League again. There's question marks on the ongoing fitness on all our other centre-backs so the more we have the merrier.

From his point of view, he has obviously had a taste of first-team football but when he does leave the only way is down. Plus the chance to play at least one game at a packed a packed Anfield would be something to look forward to.

Give him an improved deal with the promise we will sort him out a good move next summer, if that's what he wants.

He's played at a packed Anfield - he was in the team that knocked the shite out.
