Americanisms

Yeah that one really has permeated into everyday British language, as has the execrable 'I/We got your back'?

I can just about live with any of them with the simple insertion of the word “have”, including as a contraction. Without though? Fuck. Off.

Thinking more about these particular ones, unlike most Americanisms, I fucking hate them when Americans use them too. Awful, awful shite.

Referring to someone else's parents as "Papa" or "Mama", then adding their surname. So, "Papa Jordan", "Mama Brady".

I think when I first started hearing people call their mum & dad "the rents" was when I first started getting symptoms of depression and searching videos about serial killers on youtube.

Wandering around Boston with her nephew and he says "yeah theres like a ton of homeless people in Boston" What? They're fucking weighing them now? Typical yank solution to making a problem seem better by starving the street dwellers and being able to say "well at least we've got 18st less than Chicago"
