Newly promoted Watford have emerged as a possible suitor to take Harvey Elliott on loan next season.

The Hornets saw first hand the talent that the 18 year-old  has with Elliott scoring against them for Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in the Championship last season.

In all, the winger scored seven goals and contributed 11 assists impressing his teammates and veteran manager Tony Mowbray with his overall quality.

Earlier in the season former Liverpool player and current Rovers squad member Stewart Downing made a observation made about the England U-18 star.

“From what I’ve seen up to now, he’s going to be in the Premier League for sure.

“I know [ Bournemouth manager] Jonathan Woodgate well, and he’s quite close to [Liverpool sporting director] Michael Edwards.

“He asked me about Harvey when he came to Blackburn, and I was like ‘f****** hell, he’s brilliant!’

“It’s his game-understanding, when to pass the ball, when to dribble, when to come inside, when to stay wide. For someone so young, it’s top-drawer."

The Mirror reports that along with Watford there are other top-flight teams which are interested in taking Elliott for the upcoming season.

With the transfer budget a big unknown at this stage, Jurgen Klopp has a interesting dilemma on his hands.

Elliott would provide a different element to the attack which looked predictable at times last season.

But the big question mark about young players at elite clubs is how much consistent game time they will receive.

Being a consistent starter in the Premier League this season to go along with what he produced in the Championship could make all the difference to the career prospects of Elliott and Liverpool will reap the benefits in the long run.

While being a couple of years older than Elliott, Neco Williams is in a similar stage of his career in terms of needing consistent game time.

It is believed that a number of clubs including Norwich and Burnley have enquired about his availability for the new season.

Williams who is currently with the Wales squad for the upcoming European championships has made 14 appearances in his senior Liverpool career in a back-up role to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

If he goes out on loan and with Origi going we need another forward in, especially with Mane and Salah off to ACON in jan

Agreed, what I do want is for him to get minutes though, maybe loan with option to recall in jan? If he’s playing games and doing well he can stay there and if not he comes back.

I think he’s got lots of potential but he really needs game time in the prem to prove it. I don’t see how we can offer him enough until January.

I'm never enthused by the idea of loaning players to obvious relegation candidates (at any level, not just the top flight), and I don't want any of our players anywhere near that club under its current owners. Also the most-recent publicly-available regulations for loans between Premier League teams require the arrangement to be for a complete season; I've no idea whether that might change for next season.

Asked about his target for the new campaign, Elliott said: "Just to be in the team, that's it. There's no blockage in age now.

"You see youngsters all the time in football so I can't use that as an excuse. I need to go in and show people I can be trusted and can play for the team."

"If you look at Salah, he's just goals, goals, goals, goals, goals. He's always thinking about getting into the right positions and how to score when they come.

"I need to adapt that in my game. I personally think the assists and passes will come if I'm in the right position to play those passes. But now it's about working on my goals and my speed.

"I understand I'm not the quickest but I need to use my brain to be one step ahead of everyone else.

"There's a lot of work I need to do to improve my game, but it's easily done."

Elliott was also quizzed about his ever-changing hairstyles and revealed how it prompted an amusing welcome from Liverpool team-mate James Milner.

"James Milner is always on my case saying 'you need to cut it, you need to cut it'," he said.

"The first thing he said when I saw him was 'Here he is, the scarecrow!' Millie is a legend and has helped all of us youngsters along the way.

"He has been through what I have been through, making his debut at 16. Where he is now is where I want to be."

Keep him and give him origis wasted minutes.  A year training with Koop is got to be Roth more than playing with Watford.

Not sure giving the Lad 182 league minutes will keep him happy
