Yeah, and there’s no way he was putting his chips on someone as flawed as Kendall in a dog fight. Said a few weeks back to a mate I’ve been watching them with since season 1 that the way they’ve hidden Tom’s business savvy, competence and intelligence behind him being a wet, laughing stock who’s bullied by his wife and behaves weirdly towards Greg has been brilliant. Back through all the seasons it’s always Tom who Shiv immediately soundboards business opinions to and strategises with, and being the hard-nosed cunt she is, that’s certainly not because he’s her husband. It’s more why he’s her husband. Obviously he’ll get fucked hard in season 4 now, because it’s Logan against the world, but he realistically already was being.

What is Tom’s background? Had he fought his way up to the C suite before he met Shiv? I know he didn’t marry her until after the show started but did she get him the job at the company?

Hmmm,I was less impressed than most on here. It's getting a bit like Billions, which I jibbed off a while back.

Yeah, as I said in the TV thread, I found it all a bit dull and it all felt contrived. I just got to a point where I thought "I'm not arsed now". I thought the ending was obvious from very early on. Again as I said in the other thread, I'm giving the writers a covid pass, but if the next season starts so predictably , I'll be fucking it off early.

I think it's too easy to criticise the plot.  Most of the enjoyment for me has been in the lines, and the delivery of them. Look at it more as an outrageously expensive ensemble comedy, and it works really well.  The plot is becoming, well not quite incidental, but inessential.

This season was incredibly funny.

Not wholly on purpose either,I'd guess.

The problem with series based predominently on strife, family problems or elsewhere,is that it can become stale very quickly. Like I said previously,Billions is a prime example of this and that has some great characters too.

‘The plot on Peep Show was so predictable’.

Nonsense. It what makes the show, subtle humour.

Finished S3 last night.

Seriously brilliant. Not a single likeable character but all utterly captivating in their own right. The plot, script and dialogue was as good as anything I've encountered. The sets were lavish and absolutely real. The musical score - especially towards the end of S3 just got better and better. The acting was brilliant. Throughout. Singling-out one actor would be a disservice to the others. Despite that, I think I have to say this, "I'M THE ELDEST BROTHER. I AM."

I'm struggling to think of anything I disliked about Succession from start to finish. OK one thing that kept bugging me was the lack of physical similarity between the siblings. There is no shortage of great actors and perhaps the casting could have been a little tighter in that regard, but it's small beans.

Definitely one of the greatest TV series of all time.

10/10

EDIT.

Tom, what HAVE you done?

And "I FUCKING WON".

Still gutted Kendall didn’t do his hip hop set during his birthday. The world could have cringed itself out of the grasp of the pandemic.

I thought Kendall was starting to become unrealistic, but then I've seen more of Elon Musk since then.

I'm in two minds about Season 4. Everything runs its course and the ending of Season 3 seemed the right place to leave it.

Think with writers/creators as talented as it has, I’m happy to trust them to carry on. I reckon it’ll continue to be unmissable.

I think it will get better. It’s surpassed Narcos as my all time favourite series. I’m half way through season two watching it back for about the 5th time and it’s just magic. Naomi Pierce
