A lot of money on an unproven talent, with a track history of not playing football, in a position where we are already well-stocked. Deeply underwhelmed.

I must have picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.

Hard to gauge the reaction of Hull fans as they're all currently in bits at the prospect of losing Tom Huddlestone but this fella reckons we've got a real player on our hands:

"Robertson as a left back isn't a loss - only got one foot, cant cut out a cross and constantly getting drawn into wrong positions - Tom is a bad loss though at least he could pass the ball, if we're relying on Meyler were going to be ****ed royally - his passing ability is pathetic"

Very meh signing. At least he's left footed.

Someone has to keep the bench warm when Moreno leaves.

Don't wanna go overboard, but this reminds of when we signed Torres. And by that I mean it was 10 years ago this month.

Bit of a meh signing. Falls into the can a do a job category I guess. Not the greatest in the air or in defensive one-on-ones as shown by that stupid penalty he gave against City, but he has nice work-rate with a likeable attitude and can put in a decent cross.

If it's just a cheap deal that allows us to finance the Keita and VVD deals, I could live with that. Slightly surprised we picked him over Tierney though.

At worst Robertson is a value back up. If he doesn't show the potential to take over then they'll look next summer. Maybe at Sessegnon again after he's had another year to develop and old enough to potential move north.

We've managed to sign the only left-back in the league worse than Moreno. Nice.

It is staggering that we have an ageing, slow right footed midfielder playing at left back for us and our transfer policy to deal with the problem is to buy a dead average championship level player on the cheap as back up to him.

We'll sell Moreno and come out in profit on our work on that part of the squad.

Not sure why people are being so negative.

It looks like we're trying to almost double our transfer record on Keita and there's bitching about not signing some big name fullback?

Robertson's obviously been on the radar for a couple of years, we got him reasonably cheaply, why not just see how he does?

Having a bang average back up like Robertson isnt so bad if you actually have a decent first choice, we don't.

We needed a first choice left back.

I think it's fairly obvious that Robertson is just a stopgap

Robertson is a good young full back. Intelligent lad, good engine, gets up & down the left hand side all day. Decent pace, likes a tackle and has good delivery with his left foot. He's a very positive player who likes to get forward when possible.

I reckon he'll improve significantly surrounded by better players and coaching staff week in week out.

I've got plenty of time for Robertson, he's earned his way to a move to a top club, even if it is just as backup to begin with.

After being bombed out at Celtic as an under 15 for being too small, he moved to Queens Park and established himself as first choice as an 18 year old, before getting a move to Dundee United, where in his first season as a professional, he won the SPFA Young Player of the Year award and won his first international cap for Scotland.

A year later, he got his move to Hull and has been first choice for them ever since.

Great work, definitely a signing that proved you don't need to spend big to sign big.

YouTube tells me he's a big strong unit who loves a sliding tackle , but fuck me VAR will be foaming at the mouth at some of his penalty box challenges.

Someone posted a video on here not too long back and I stopped watching after the first ten challenges because eight of them were nailed on penalties in the PL.

He's no Torben Piechnik.

Nor, on closer inspection, is he Eusebio, Nobby Stiles, Stanley Matthews, Gianni Riveri, Sandro Mazzola or Garrincha.

Fuck me, what were we thinking with this guy?

He could at least have been Tostão or Ruud Krol, FFS.

Didnt stop us signing Thiago and his Lucas like tendency to make wreckless tackles around the pitch. He's learnt and so will this Konate if he's that wreckless.

Robertson's a good player and still only 23.  Wouldn't mind it, but not sure if he'll be able to push up and provide the extra support needed when we're too narrow (Phil on the left) against a team sitting deep.
