Great games and achievements have gone before and come since, but this is still the pinnacle for me, not just in terms of the manner in which it was achieved, but the gap between us and our opponent, I'd argue we were not a "great" side then, we had no business doing what we did, but we did, pure Liverpool FC - gets your hopes up, lets you down, then at the last minute reminds you why you love it again. 

 

Gladiators, I salute you. And Rafa, I will always love you too.

The final was the pinnacle but getting to that moment was achieved all they way through the tournament by defying the odds from the Gerrard “you beauty” goal to knocking out Juventus and then finally the “ghost goal” in the semi final And yet it was amazingly all topped by the greatest European Cup Final ever ..

It’s ironic for me in that the two Liverpool finals I can still watch all the way through and enjoy them are the two that happened on the 25th May 

 

City may win it this week but unless something amazing happens in the final you'd be hard pressed even now to remember who they played on the way to winning it or a dramatic moment

Thought then that I’d likely not see that whole occasion bettered, and I still don’t think I have really, we were robbed of a great occasion last season by COVID, and the Spurs final wasn’t all that except for the result.

The day travelling, the match, Taksim Square afterwards and the following day coming home via three flights, the third from Frankfurt to Manchester while the team was on the bus tour, on a plane full of Mancs who couldn’t say shit, in my Yellow Goalkeepers shirt ( long story). Top, top time.

The Chelsea game was on my daughters 18th birthday and she wanted us all to go out to a Gastro pub for a drink and a meal.

Did I go?

Like shite I did.
