Went to Wales for the first time since this 20mph bollocks came in and it's a joke. It's not just in small areas like near schools but whole parts of towns and their outskirts. Seemed to just be buildups of traffic snaking through these places. You can cycle faster than 20mph, pointless.

Not sure what people are upset about. There are parts of Liverpool that are 20mph, and not just side streets. The top of Townsend Lane from the junction with Lower Breck Rd is 20mph.

I think the figures show people hit at 20mph are 5x less likely to die than 30mph. Can’t see a problem with 20mph in built up areas.

He's coming under massive criticism over this. Hasn't gone down well at all.

20mph just makes driving pointless.

I think it fucks up your car as well. Although not sure on that as I'm not a mechanic. I think he's dropped a bollock here. I'd have thought 25mph would have been acceptable for both sides.

Same round here (Central Scotland). They reduced all the speed limits a few years back- from 30 down to 20 going through the villages, and 60 down to 50 or 40 on the connecting roads. I think the whole of Glasgow is 20 mph as well and it's the same around the Borders. I don't remember there being any fuss either.

Probably not a high profile Labour MP doing it who seems to be doing things that aren't selfish and greedy like the cunts in the news stirring up the criticism? Or it could be a total coincidence of course in the same way nobody protests about sky rocketing fuel prices under Tory rule?

It depends where you are. There's 20mph zones around schools but they're not very big.

The drive I took in North Wales along the coast road was stop start, stop start, with lots of traffic snaking along at 20mph. It was causing a lot of frustration and tailbacks.

Driving in the UK is shit enough, I never drive to town any more. Don't fuck with rural areas too.

You describe every trip I've had to North Wales, way before the speed limit restrictions too.

Fucking 20 mph. It does fuck all for the environment but make it worse due to driving in lower gear, let alone idling in queues, but will increase journey times. Ok, near schools at peak times, no problem but all built up areas? Fuck that.

Yep. It's not going down well.

I really feel it's all a part of demonising cars. They simply don't want people driving anywhere, anymore. So they can reach "Net zero". A load of bollocks.

It’s not. It’s probably the only thing the SNP haven’t fucked up on yet.

Thing is, public transport is terrible too. They've got you by the balls either way.

I'm in favour of it, anything that saves lives. To me, it will be like seat belts and drink-driving, outrage at the time but once it becomes normal people will accept it and move on.

I do believe it should go hand in hand with a massive investment into public transport, hopefully a few more bus companies into public ownership.

Weird situation on Cardiff roads where drug dealers on them scooter things are now overtaking motorists on their way to customers (so some positives) Whilst the younger motorists seem oblivious are are carrying on driving at the same speed as before regardless. The older ones though are crawling at 15mph as to not go over the limit and holding up the traffic behind.

Imo it's a stupid ruling. 25mph would have been fine.

Sunak meanwhile is a fucking idiot. It's not a blanket limit at all.
