What single event has summed up this car crash of a season?

...And it doesn't necessarily have to have anything to do with the reds.

For me it was the penalty the mancs got at Brighton AFTER full time to win 3-2.

The sheer audacity of the league to award them that and bend the rules for them, basically set the precedent on a shit sandwich of a season. I never thought I would ever see the likes of it in my life.

I think it was then I realised something could be up.

Shitfest VAR decisions for me. Said to the old girl a match between 2 teams is no longer who is the better, it's what shitstain of a ref you have and the incompetents running VAR are going to decide it that matters now.

Im mean how hard is it to fuck up a tool introduced to make officials lives easier and yet just end up alienating everyone over it?

Which reminds me of another...the bullshit goal City scored when one of their players clearly ran from behind the defender 20 yards back after an attack and nicked the ball of the defenders toes. Utter bullshit.

And then every fucking nobody claiming that it was ok because of phases and other such garbage.

Newcastle equalising after already having one goal ruled out in added time.

A nice little microcosm of our season that, get out of jail and then fuck it up immediately.

Like getting through to the January window in a decent position despite having no defenders and then doing fuck all about it till the last minute.

Henderson’s disallowed goal against the blue cunts. That game alone has probably set us back years. We were absolutely brilliant that day offensively, we looked so threatening and had the real swagger of champions and that latent sense of of invincibility. Mane’s goal is absolutely stunning football, like a well oiled machine. He misses an easier chance a few minutes later created in the same style.

We then have the assault on our main man, our leader, the finest CB the PL’s ever seen. Given a bogus offside, those abhorrent cunt lines drawn from an arbitrary position and Pickford’s fly hack into Virgil’s knee is deemed academic. The sign of things to come.

We dust ourselves down and still play some spell binding football. Mo’s goal just a deadly finish, worthy of winning any game.

Concede a shite goal from a stood up ball ball to the back post. But again show our class and resilience and dominate them again going close multiple times, to then see our new midfield mastero receives a horrible studes into his knee challenge from that cunt Richardlison.

We are somehow able to regain control and craft and brilliantly worked goal from our captain epitomises the grit and determination that had characterised this team for the past 3 years. Alas, we see the dreaded lines appear and you just know what’s coming next. Of course a faceless cunt in Stockley Park fucks us once again.

That game totally derailed us, one of the great injustices in sport.

Agreed. Winning that match in the face of all that adversity would have added to the belief in the squad, instead we had the adversity of adversities rubbed in our faces in the last minute, probably having the opposite effect. I don't want to indulge in blueshite "ifitadnerbinfer" but that game basically fucked our season. We limped along with muscle memory for a few more weeks but the vast majority of our problems have stemmed from trying to compensate for shit that happened in that game.

Absolute fucking cunts from Woodison to Stockley Park.

2 things for me. The goal bamford had ruled out for pointing where he wanted the ball and his elbow or whatever was deemed offside when measure by feet on the ground he was about a yard onside. And from an LFC perspective, the lack of a centre back on Jan 1 with the "it'll be alright, we're great us" attitude.

Edit and here's the bamford picture for those who don't remember.

I'd have took this year, for last year.

But, I'd say Philips missing Leeds and Newcastle pretty much sums up this season - there has been a lot of errors from everyone - but, we had gotten ourselves into a bit of form, a good place and Fab was back in the middle making a difference - then Philips gets injured and back to square one.

Hendersons injury time goal getting ruled out by VAR.

Every time I see a still Image of it I can't understand how its not given as a goal.

Especially after losing my shit celebrating it.... fuck this season and fuck VAR.

You know, I’d actually forgotten about Hendo’s winner with everything else that happened that day. What an awful couple of hours.

Was it just me or did Thiago look phenomenal that day too?

Clumsy Pickford was bad enough but move onto the return fixture at Anfield.

Virg in the stands, game over and Shaq had an opportunity to leave something in there against Pickford but didn't, minutes later, game over and Alisson walking off with the short armed spaz. Klopp looking on at the pair of them not impressed.

The game has changed immeasurably and not for the better.
