Spot on. The main problem this season has been the lack of intensity in the pressing. Like explained by Klopp in a recent interview. Not too complicated actually, and should be possible to fix going into next season.

The problem is there is only so much intensity you can put into games over a given period of time. These guys were pressing and pressing like crazy for the last four years and look like they've run out of gas now. They pressed and run and won us four trophies. But you can see they look well drained now. They're not machines and even machines stop working at a certain stage. As a manager you have to mix things up...change formations, play high, play deep, play short, play long ...etc. Klopp needs to be more flexible in terms of formations and tactics going forward.

Having to potentially play Williams at the toilet is bad news - i hate to see it because it kills our midfield but it may be safer to go with Fabinho.

Williams will get rinsed by their forwards.

Hopefully Kabak will be fit and Klopp was saving hin for this game in mind.

If not, we really don't stand a chance come Thursday

That’s a sad state of affairs isn’t it. He’s done okay, but he’s not really that good a footballer (yet).

Since the Palace game on 27th December Fabinho has started 13 league games.

He played 4 league games in midfield and we won those 4.

He has played 9 at centre back. We won 0, drew 5 and lost 4 of those.

I'd prefer to leave him where is, thanks.

Neither can be anywhere near the side next year if we want to go back to being good again.

Williams needs a full season on loan in the Championship before anyone can honestly judge what he's made of.

Phillips is OK as a fourth choice centre back, provided the other three stay fit for all the big games.

100% agree. Playing Fabinho at CB is setting up not to lose rather than to try to win. This version of Liverpool just doesn't cope well with that mindset. Better to play whatever CBs are fit and play the version of our game that we can hoping to beat them by scoring.

Maybe just maybe this win inspires them to actually finish some of the easier chances we create. We're capable of giving United a hiding just as they're capable of doing that to us but only if we have some presence in midfield and that just isn't happening with our best midfielder playing CB.

Have we not learnt our lesson about that second paragraph?

A fourth choice centre back being someone who isn't good enough unless you can pick and choose their games  isn't good enough.  We've seen what happens when they inevitable play week in week out.  Ours certainly will with our collection of players that will break down, not if but will.

We also can't go taking about Fabinho playing there as an option cause Henderson is so injury prone, he will likely be out during these times of need and before you know it we've a defence and midfield that is completely in capable of playing a high line, pressing style that made us very ducking good.

Both Williams and Phillips are way too slow to play CB for a team with any other ambitions than purely existing.

Their defending last night was abysmal, and we can thank Alisson for the clean sheet.

We looked like we played the game with ten men. We always look like we're playing with ten men. There are huge gaps everywhere.

This is all caused by our painfully slow centre backs. I understand why Klopp likes to play Fabinho at centre half but the problem is that we then need another Fabinho in midfield, which obviously can't happen.

Sadly if Williams is the only other option i can't see any other result than us having to play Fabinho in there.

The mancs front men will destroy Williams.

Yeah its a nightmare having to play Fabinho in there because of the effect it has on our midfield and the knock on effects that has all over the park, but Williams at the toilet?

No, not for me.....way, way too slow - way, way too poor positionally, way, way too naive.

If only we had got two centre halves in in January eh?

Last season, Degsy made 10 Premier League appearances.  That's really not the same as "inevitably playing week in, week out". Phillips is good enough for that sort of number of appearances.
