New TV

To be honest, I am a salesperson dream, I need brighter brights and darker darks.

Buying TVs is my thing and I normally buy one every 2-3 years. My current LG is 3.5 years old but this mainly due to Covid and not working. The picture is very good and realistically I don't need a now one, but I need one.

Soundbars are like SD/HD to me, you don't really notice them until they're gone.

I didn't really notice HD, until the wife changes the channel and we are on channel 1, as opposed to 101, you notice how poor SD is.

Our soundbar starts up as soon as TV is switched on and it is all good, but it is when it doesn't start that you realise something sounds odd. I would imagine if you have never had a soundbar/external speakers then the TV speakers, C1 are meant to be better than G1, will be fine and not disappoint

So my 65 inch C1 has arrived, I’ve set it up and am now playing the new Horizon game on it. Suffice it to say, it’s fantastic.

Extremely jealous mate, they are absolutely superb TV’s. Wait until you see the footy on Sky in 4K HDR.

Feels like a huge leap in quality from our 50” Panasonic plasma (which never let us down and has lasted over ten years).

Telly went weird this morning. The connection to the SkyQ box just kept cutting out every 2 seconds. After googling, it seems it’s a known issue to do with Sky UHD and LG tellies. After a factory reset, it’s fine. However, if this interferes with my ability to watch the footy in UHD (saw injury time of the Leeds game last night and it was amazing in UHD) or is a step that needs constantly repeating, it’s going back. Proper pissed on my chips, that did.

Is it just with UHD. I cancelled my sky ultra a while back because the difference wasn't great enough. Its like with the netflix and disney apps through sky they look dogshit compared to the tvs version of those apps or a firestick or consoles versions. I'd definitely send it back though if youre having any issues at all.

My Sony bravia I have had for 18 month's is great. Picked up a ps5 about a year ago and been playing it on the bravia no problem.

Bought a 55inch LG c1 two week's ago because of the 2.1 hdmi compatibility with ps5 and 120 frame rates (still play Cod online). I didn't even know of the G1 until reading this thread. I had high hope's anyway spending that much and not actually needing another tv besides for taking advantage of the ps5, it exceeded them. Ridiculous difference, I'm looking at the bravia like a clapped out motor now though.

Wish I had played Ghost of tsushima and Day's gone on it. If any of the new consoles factor in to choosing your TV then I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Ordered the LG C1 for £940 after seeing this, thanks. Been after an OLED for a while, this deal was too good to turn down.

Can you buy a good 50 or 55 inch television for £500 (I’m a fussy twat)? I watch films and TV series but don’t watch sport. I have a Firestick and use the following apps: iPlayer, ITV Hub, Now, Netflix and YouTube.

Sure you can.

I think TV's are at the stage where there isn't much they can improve upon, so they just invent wacky shit liked curved, glowing, etc.

My current television (LG) is eleven years old and the picture quality is shit, so I’d imagine almost anything would be an improvement. However, I’d need to buy online, as getting to a bricks and mortar shop isn’t possible at the moment. £500 is a lot of money for me nowadays, so I’m apprehensive about buying without a demonstration. I’ve done some research and the top-end TVs look very impressive, so given that I’m a fussy sod, I’m a bit worried I would be disappointed with a ‘budget’ model.

I bought a 43” Samsung QLED TV almost 2 years ago for just over £500 and think it’s great. Curry’s, Argos and John Lewis all doing a 50” Samsung QLED for £579 if you can stretch to that Tony? Worth getting from John Lewis if you order one as they offer a five year guarantee.

It might be worth your while hanging on until Black Friday though as many retailers hold back their best offers for then.

You won’t need the Firestick, Tone. For £500 you’ll be having a smart TV with all that installed. Stick your old telly and the stick in a different room.

You just need to shop around, mate. I picked this up on offer for £400 over three years ago and I still love it. Philips Ambilight 55”.

Videoing on my phone doesn’t do it justice. The flashing as it changes from one colour to another looks all crappy when you play it back. It’s the absolute dogs bollocks though. I keep catching my missus taking admiring glances at it and she’s been sending videos to her mates. Boss.

I have an LG C1 and the Fire Stick is still useful to be fair. Kodi for a start. And IPTV.

I use mine for Kodi & IPTV too. This is Moanero we’re talking about though. He’s gonna be flabbergasted that the remote control has a Netflix AND a YouTube button. There’s even games he can download on smart tellies. I’ve looked through some and they all looked proper shite so he’ll love them.
