Well, apart from a near monopoly of domestic trophies achieved through a decade of sports washing, massive spending and cheating, incompetent/biased refereeing, abysmal VAR implementation , rip-off ticket prices and tv subscriptions pricing younger and lower income fans out of the game. Apart from that, it’s wonderful.

This 100%

If they really wanted to do it properly they should have got enough non-state-owned clubs on board from enough countries to form two divisions with relegation and promotion. Had in place a sustainable and comprehensive set of rules to avoid oil clubbing, Then en-masse resigned from their domestic leagues and UEFA.

It would have probably evolved into something like that.  I'd be surprised if they didn't have FFP sorted from the start though.

According the Echo they are holding on. Their inability to read the room is astounding. This isn't difficult - 12 wasn't enough, 10 is ridiculous. It's over.

If they've signed a multi year contract yeah I'd expect them to hold on unless you're all happy for players to be sold to pay for this contract.

Of course they are. The Super League is precisely for a club of Liverpool's financial and brand profile. Arsenal and Man United too. Historically big clubs with mystique that rely on their own revenues to pay for stuff.

It was not necessary for Chelsea and City. Again, they'll have to pry the ESL from FSG's cold, dead hands.

Reads like the most nauseating hagiography.

Quote

Withdrawing allows City to retain that position that they have been proud to hold this past decade – a club outside football’s restrictive, self-serving Establishment cabal. A cabal which, City have argued relentlessly in that time, deliberately constructed the UEFA Financial Fair Play system to keep out enterprising, imaginative newcomers like them.

It also means City moving on from the controversy surrounding their handling of those UEFA rules. UEFA found that they had breached FFP and imposed the ban. The Court for Arbitration in Sport was by no means flattering when rescinding it.

And somewhere along the road, the joyful City we knew became shrill and angry – justifiably, they would say – and at war with those governing a sport in which they have shone a light in so many ways.

Pep Guardiola certainly has no wish to follow the money and consign to history all that this proud, passionate football club – founded 140 years ago by a vicar’s daughter for the working classes of an east Manchester crippled by unemployment – has come to represent.

Did Brighton players wear the PL endorsed ‘earn it’ T-shirt’s, btw?  Or was that just reserved for us as we are the whipping boys for all of this?!

All the more reason for the players to pull their socks up and get top four. Then when all of the cunts start whining we can say ‘well you should have earned it.’
