These things are dangerous though... To the rider.  I commuted for about a year on one and on a bike for a few years before that, never felt unsafe at all on the bike through Central London but it's the potholes with scooters, deadly.  I knocked myself unconscious once and woke up in the back of an ambulance with the back of the helmet cracked open.

 

If you don't hold onto the handlebars with a vice-like deathgrip a pothole just rips the bars out your hands.

Popping up everywhere now. Theres one across the street from ours just sat there on its own. Saw about 6 in the village yesterday.

That happened literally in front of my mate’s house. Two of his kids saw the whole thing plus the aftermath with the woman being treated on the pavement with blood everywhere. Awful, awful shit.

Blame Grant Schapps, he made them legal for use on roads and pavements at the start of the pandemic to help people get to work, now they’re fucking everywhere and causing a real nuisance.

 

Companies will now pile in as they’re cheap to make and maintain.

They look awful people just dump them anywhere not in designated spots. I suppose its created a few jobs for people to go round and pick them up but them just being left all over the place it looks awful and you know idiots will find a way to smash them up or some shit.

A young lad got hit by a taxi on East Prescot Road riding one of these the other night, been fighting for his life in hospital. 

 

Tragically hours before 3 people died when a car hit that same roundabout at the bottom of Pilch Lane/Blackmoor Drive.

There was another big crash round there about 2 nights ago. Police rammed a car that was driving at high speed and it ended up in someone's front garden wall.

 

From the video it sounds like a load of kids were playing in the garden as they were all screaming. Luckily no one was hurt apart from the driver.
