Shoot magazine (or was it 90 minutes??) gave one of those away for free one week but it was renamed Striker.  Then when I saw them in the shops I was really confused by the name of it.

Oh my god that has just reminded me of the best kids footy mag that came out in the late 1970's - "Top Soccer". Only lasted about a year before Shoot! overpowered it but it was absolutely brilliant at the time...

I seem to recall they were watermelon flavour or something.

Watermelon, Apple, Cherry, Grape, Strawberry & Blue Raspberry I think.
There was a store here that sold the Jolly Rancher soda. Lovely stuff but you could literally feel your teeth screaming as they melted away after you'd had a bottle.

Grandstand. I was thinking earlier about Jim Rosenthal’s voice on end of season videos and then started to miss old sports tv and just how good grandstand used to be as a kid growing up.

Imagine a modern version. 'Today's highlights include the tiddlywinks world championship follow by the Scaletrix masters from number 47 High Street,Slough.'

These were good, astonishingly violent though.

I have a few of those compilation books, you sometimes see them in the clearance book stores. Always a cracking read, and they seem to have gone under the snowflake radar as the casual racism is always still present.

Funnily enough, I refound this book in my house today and took it with me to read on the commute:
