Who'll Stop the Rain as well - this would have been their 6th record in 30 months - all with huge hits. Up there with the Beatles for that kind of output.

Yep. Very, very rare for an artist to have a run of albums like that. I've loved CCR for years and their story is fascinating. The hatred they held for each other after they split, the fights with the record label etc... and all the more fascinating with John and Tom Fogerty being brothers. This quote from John always sticks in my memory:

In the eulogy that he delivered at Tom's funeral, John said, "We wanted to grow up and be musicians. I guess we achieved half of that, becoming rock 'n roll stars. We didn't necessarily grow up"

Their induction in the Rock N Roll hall of fame is horrible to watch as well. The tension is palpable and after they're inducted John Fogerty gets up and plays CCR hits with Springsteen and Robbie Robertson and the other two are banned from the stage.

The Cure by a long way as my first choice here. Then Love.

Also, I prefer Cast. Sorry.

You mean the greatest album of all time isn't running away with it?

The La's wouldn't get a look in if it wasn't for the fact they're local.

The Cure and CCR.

I agree about the La’s, but The Cure wouldn’t currently be leading if half the forum hadn’t seemingly spent the 80’s and 90’s as lonely virgins wearing their mums makeup.

True, but to be fair I was 15 at the turn of the century and the make-up thing was for a fundraiser!

Nah, I'm Scottish & voted The La's. That album is ridiculously good & one of the very few I still play from that era.

Very strong group. Disintegration because South Park knows, and I enjoyed CCR's album more than Love's, which, although very good, is a bit too hip for me to walk around stating it is the best ever. The La's were a revelation, but not enough of it to make it out of the group of death. Hope all my apostrophes are in the right place.

Pretty much my view.

Forever Changes is the best album of all time.

Ahahahahahaha

Its so good that no one really bothered to buy it, or any other of their albums for that matter.

And that, as we all know, is the sole determinant of musical quality.

Absolutely love three of these but never heard a CCR album, will rectify this later.

Agree that Forever Changes is up there with the greatest albums ever made, Disintegration is arguably The Cure's most consistent album (possibly because it's so one paced, which isnt a bad thing in this instance) and although Mavers didn't like The La's album, there isn't an ounce of fat on it in all honesty.

At this stage i'm leaning towards The La's and Love, but Disintegration would have trounced half of the stuff in the other groups so it shows what a tough group this is.
