I feel for Phillips.

 

Not his fault he's slow, he's going as fast as he can but he is nowhere near the level needed to play for Liverpool. Decent apart from that, but the pace thing is just not a fixable problem. You know it's bad when he's McBurnie of all players is going past him like he's standing still.

 

This isn't a new issue, though, as with everything else this season it goes back to the injuries. And hopefully once Fabinho is back it'll be the end of Nat Phillips as a starter for Liverpool. Kabak looks like a baby Lovren, with all that implies, but at least he can run as fast as the players going up against him.

Davies is meant to be rapid. I dont know what's going on with him was he really bought to be flipped. He was considered to be the best defender in the championship and Sheffield are essentially a championship side.

Yes. I was under the impression he could run and isn't a complete loon which would probably make him better than Phillips and Kabak.

In all likelihood, he is just a serviceable defender, about the same level as Adam Webster or Ben Mee, and he still needs time to get used to our tactics.

I don't really understand what people are surprised about with Davies. He must be injured yesterday surely, because we're hardly going to put two youth goalkeepers on the bench ahead of him. And as for why he hasn't played when fit, why would he have? Who would he have played instead of?

If he's at Ben Mee's level he should be starting ahead of Kabak. 

 

And to reply to the bit you edited out, the same applies to Kabak as it does Davies.

 

If we're taking a more long term view to see more of Kabak, as he's only 20 and has more potential, with the possibility of signing him in the summer, fine. But if he's currently a better option than Davies, and gives us a better chance of finishing in the top four this season, then Davies must be utterly shite.

If he plays ten games and he's so shit that he costs us a CL place then it would have been better to play Davies. Obviously, it's not as clearcut as that, either way, but that's the decision Klopp needs to make. Balancing building for next season with ensuring this one isn't disastrous.

Davies was out injured for last night's match. I don't reckon he's gonna be a vast improvement on Kabak or Phillips or anything but we should probably wait until he's actually fit and playing for us before deciding he's shite.

Kabak and Davies should be ahead of Phillips. He isn't good enough to play for us. Kabak might not be either but he's played at a level that Phillips hasn't or ever will and he's going to make a mistake soon because that is what happens when someone who isnt good enough is exposed too much.

You could say the same about Kabak. As for Davies then I trust Klopps call not to play him yet .He obviously hasn’t pulled up any tees in training so far. All three of them are probably nowhere near at the level we need .

Kabak has played international and champions league football which led to clubs looking at him. With all the will in the world, Phillips will never play at that level. We knew he wasn't good enough before the end of January. And Davies has been injured a couple of times which is why he hasn't played.

Phillips is not bad at the basics of defending but he has no pace at all - and that is something that can't be coached into him and it is something that a modern day centre half playing in a team like ours simply has to have.

 

He'll probably go on to have a half decent career in the lower reaches of the PL/upper reaches of the Championship.
