Global authorities are scrambling to transport vaccine and personnel to Guinea in a bid to stem the spread of Ebola, after at least four people died.

It was an outbreak in Guinea that sparked the world’s worst Ebola outbreak, which raged across west Africa between late 2013 and 2016.

On Sunday the government confirmed the highly contagious hemorrhagic fever had been detected in a rural community near Gouéké, in the heart of a well-connected forested region in southeastern Guinea. The town is just 40km from Nzérékoré - the second largest city in the country - and relatively close to the Liberian border.

Gouéké also hosts one of the largest weekly markets in the region, attended by people all over the province - and neighbouring countries including Liberia and Cote d'Ivoire.

The first case was detected in a nurse who died in late January - more than two weeks ago. According to Nicola Bennett, regional chief of emergency for Unicef West and Central Africa, “the nurse who died was well known and active in her community”.

“She was in contact with several people during medical consultations she made in the health centre and at home, and participated in several events in her locality and around. At the beginning of her illness, she consulted in several health and other structures,” she said.

Already at least seven people who attended her funeral on February 1 have reported symptoms, including three people who have died.

Others have been isolated in treatment centres, but experts warned it is almost inevitable that more cases will be detected in the coming days.

If this bastard gets on the loose you can guarantee people would be sticking to the rules. I’d wrap the house in cling film and gun down anyone who come within 50 feet.

Death from your insides breaking down and leaking out of every hole does not appeal.

As long as you don’t kiss a victim, or eat them, you’ll be ok.
