I thought he was recovering from a concussion?

He played in the behind closed door match with Villa. You can see him in the clip when Neco scored the worldie. That was the Sunday after Norwich I believe.

I don't think he's quite earned Klopp's full trust quite yet as I reckon Klopp wants him to do more off the ball and maybe keep possession a bit better. He's very talented and I can't imagine selling him ever crossed Klopp's mind even if it did cross the owners thoughts.

I doubt it would have crossed their minds for £15m; double that and they might have thought about it.

His touch is by far his best attribute. Defenders are scared of going near him in the box, but are happy to have a dig in the midfield. Get him in the box more and he'll be golden, last season he was trying to cover for midfielders dropping into defence and it was never going to show him off. It's just not his natural game.

I guess like Woodburn maybe they don't think he has the pace to make playing him further forward viable, but as more of a coutinho version of that role, I think he could do it. Especially with Jota and Robbo next to him.

I think any midfielders with attacking qualities might have to gauge whether we are the right place to be while Jurgen is in place. As has been stated , he sees midfielders as workhorses and while it is always good to be more defensively aware it can also be outweighed by the loss of your original attributes. There were signs last season that Curtis was losing the X Factor that showed in his earlier games. Shaqiri was not really given much chance , Gini was reinvented and Keita  hardly gets forward at all.

This.

When teams are sitting back defending their point or lead, he's perfect to bring on in the front 3, I reckon.

Unless there is something seriously wrong which is why he's down the pecking order at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised for him to be the midfielder with the most minutes after fabinho.

I do think @sir roger has a point, but I think Jones will just adapt and be happy with it. As Gini showed, it doesn't mean you lose it as he was able to transform on the international stage.

I think midfield is his long term position, but I agree with you. This season I'd defo be thinking about playing him in the Coutinho role on the left of the front three to see how he does.

He's nothing like Sadio so it would require a bit of a change to how we play, but he can score goals and he can create them.

Spot on.

I think is partly why Thiago has struggled at times here as well.

When signing midfielders, we should be looking at players like Hojbjerg at Spurs, he's not a great midfielder, but ideally suited to the job we want them to do.

It seems like Florian Neuhaus was/is our top target. Maybe we think we have got more chance of getting him next season?
