Fabinho will be a better centre back than either of those two lads we have signed.  Henderson has been good there recently as well.  Playing either of them would have been suicide in their first game.  People have their narrative though even though they clearly aren’t the reason we got beat.  We were at 1-1 and looking like the better side.  Klopp made those substitutions because he was trying to win the game and thinking we were on top.  It backfired massively.

If Alisson just goes long first time then that result doesn’t happen.  The first goal resulted in his head absolutely going, Adrian/Karius style and the game was done from that point.  Why we were working angles to go back to him after that incident is just simply down to the robotic nature of football these days.  Players should be taking responsibility to go long up the line when they see how badly he was affected.  Instead they’re still passing it to him because they just drill those passing plays over and over again and can’t break out of them.

Has anyone asked Fab if he likes playing there? Because i bet he doesn't. Thats why he's a midfielder.

There was nothing in it till the keepers errors, people are so fucking quck to stick the knife in

I know. It's as if people think we were playing Burnley or something. We had control in a game against a very good team until the individual errors absolutely fucked us.

Desperate times for us reds.

From now on I hope Klopp just picks 2 centre halfs and gets Henderson and Fabinho back in the midfield and preferably gets Thiago out of it. We've barely won a game since he became a fixture in the team. Not all his fault obviously but facts is facts

This season really is turning into a damage limitation exercise. Top 4 or bust.

not often i agree with Roy Keane but he is right we got stuffed at villa with VVD in the team we really have to stop the bullshit excuses its making us a bloody laughing stock!!.We have looked disjointed most of the season and what we need is Fabino and Hendo back in midfield put the 2 new lads in take a gamble they are defenders they know there job. This is the point where we need to throw caution to the wind and look like we are interested in winning games

To be fair mate we've looked disjointed since Arsenal away last season after we won the league and we've not fixed the slide this season in the whole we've scraped wins (palace and a few others apart) once our front 2 ( can't really count Bobby anymore he takes himself out the game) are marked tightly then teams can stop us we don't have midfielders who burst through and score 10 goals a season like city and Chelsea we need a plan B.

It was 1-1 until the 73rd minute and then two goalkeeper errors put the game out of reach for us.

If Ederson had made those two errors at the other end everyone would be saying what a good performance it was today.

A few weeks ago a number of pundits were praising Fabinho as one of the best performers at Centre back this season.

We were pinned in our own half, for the 10 mins before it happened (after we levelled) and they had a goal ruled out for offside just before walls came crahing down.

It was coming.

Calmed down a little bit. That was a really sore one and felt really really hopeless watching it.

But we’ve had a colossal bad luck and so many different factors have gone against us this season, they’ve been well documented and discussed to death. But I do believe our world looks a hell of a lot different if we do the following. Have Virgil and Gomez in at the back, fab and hendo back in the middle of the park, replace Bobby with Haaland or some other CF, Bobby is done asa starter here and some fans back in stadiums.

Another stupid decision by the club bringing in 2 centre backs last minute. No time to adjust in a serious run of games and the manager well known for wanting players to bed in over a period of time.

It's not like we knew we needed a centre back and if Matip hadn't been injured against spurs I'm not sure we would have even bought anyone. But we are dead clever for getting 2 centre backs last minute for virtually fuck all.

We’ve got our first 3 choice centre backs out and the club have just signed another 2.  I think if he thought it was going to be long term he would have a problem with it.  He knows it’s not though and the team need him there.  He was a bit rusty today playing against the team that are going to win the league by a massive margin.  He was still good though and bot why the team lost.

Haaland won't come here and neither will Mbappe FSG won't spend that kind of money especially after the last 18 months of no fan money coming in. A center half from Preston and a 20 year old kid from a struggling German side shows their spending days are done we won't see an Allison / Van Djik type of signing again.

Our forwards bring more pressure on our makeshift defence than the opposition by not doing their jobs and scoring fucking goals.

The stand ins who’ve played at the back have played well. Shit teams being able to cruise through games here and then having a go for the win in the 80th minute without fear knowing full well our strikers have clocked off and are counting the minutes down to the final whistle.

He was a Right back until 6 years ago. He was only moved in to midfield because Monaco had an injury crisis and the Monaco manager recognised that he had the ability to play in this position.

I think he has said recently that he doesn't want to play centre back long term.

The two new centre backs may be weaker options than Henderson and Fabinho but at least they will have the protection of Henderson and Fabinho in front of them. Villa absolutely twatted us before our injuries and lets be honest we have been a mixed bag often poor since the Athletico game but we've persisted, gone on and on while it isn't working. Injuries have hampered us to the point the title is long gone but this plodding on hoping things will change on their own isn't good enough and it will end up with top 4 long gone too. Make tactical changes we cant play the way that brought us success any more we have to adapt much like City have. We dont look like we are doing anything to fix things. It takes us forever to create openings and seconds to be opened up ourselves.

It’s not about protection it’s about playing the high line and where and when to do it and not do it.  It’s about playing the high line on free kicks to either stop chances or catch them offside.  You can’t learn these things in days.  They sound like minor details but they are huge.

Its mad that anybody seriously thinks we will be able to get either of these two. The likes of City, Chelsea, Juventus and PSG will blow us out of the water in terms of what they are prepared to offer the players.

I dont think we should be playing the high line.
