If we beat City and Utd lose another this weekend, or draw, then this early in the season its still very tight at the top. Our season won’t be over. A Big if I know.

Presumably, our 2 new CBs are training with the lads now, and frankly, I think one of them has to play alongside Nat this weekend. Without Hendo in midfield, City will find it too easy to dictate. With Hendo back in his prime spot, City will have to play a careful game, and just maybe, our defence will be under less pressure. Big maybe I know.

2-1 Liverpool. Its the Eternal Optimist in me.

Would like to be wrong, but got a feeling might take up to a month before we see a centre half pairing of actual centre halves and our midfiled back.

Which for me makes waiting until the last second of the window to act (seemingly with Matip news forcing it) all the more wrong.

Indeed.  I was saying at the start of the window that I wasn't expecting them to break the bank for some of the big-name CBs that people were talking about: a Klavan-level signing and maybe a loanee would do me fine.  There really is no good reason for wasting a whole month before completing those deals.

You might as well throw in the new guys at defense--- nothing to lose--- since we're losing anyway. Play Henderson in his proper position and see if the outcome could be any different.

Im just amazed folks think this is a good idea. Two guys who've never played together before, one from a Championship team the other from a struggling Bundesliga club, never played a minute in the PL and sling them in together for their first game, possibly in front of Kelleher against city? Really?

City would be salivatating more at that centre of defence than they will Nat and Hendo or Fab if we're lucky.

Could go with Henderson and Phillips at centre half against City and have Robertson and TAA crossing the ball from our own half.

I think one of Henderson/Fabinho will play centre half with Kabak and the other will be in midfield with Gini and Thiago.

That would make sense to me.
