I dont think we should be playing the high line.

That’s a completely different argument altogether.  We do play that high line and it’s meant we cut goals out like today.  I can understand people bot being happy with it but it tends to work very well.  Klopp isn’t changing it.

Its why I said I want to see tactical changes. The high line is fine when your players are fit and on form. Ours aren't and haven't been for a while. It's opinions but my opinion has been we should sit deeper our midfield play should be further back. I also know that klopp knows infinitely more than i do but if we all lived by the rule of offering no opinions on football because we know less than those involved it would probably be a niche sport.

The high press / line works great and looks boss when it works well ala Us, Barca, Bayern, City and Dortmund over the last 10 years but when teams break that press it made all the above teams look "normal" it's all about moving the ball quickly and winning it back quickly both of which we aren't doing at the moment so as you said we need to adapt and change the back line and drop 10 yards deeper.

We are getting fucked over every which way at the moment. This season we've seen a combination of rotten injury luck, calamitous goalkeeping, ponderous approach play, dreadful attacking and overwhelmingly awful refereeing see us lurch from disaster to disaster. The Mentality Monsters thing is no more.

Yes, you’re right in terms of No.3. They did go on to win the league though after that Boxing Day defeat. From 12th position as well.

Yeah i remember tv comms basically calling Grobbelaaar a clown as City came and beat us (3-1?)

Was not a lot of good feeling around him at time.

Massive recovery in 2nd half of season.

We aren't getting that here mind!

I just don't get what goes through Alison's head sometimes. He's cocked up before by taking stupid chances but luckily for him we won those games but today he plummeted to Karius-level stupidity. Yes he's one of the best goalies in the world but he also has these dumb mistakes in him. How hard would it have been for him to just blast the ball down the field instead of dicking about? Is it so hard for goalies to use some common sense?

Yes, it was 1-3. Boxing Day 1981. Of course they’d already won the European Cup by then. As you rightly pointed out, 1981 but the previous season.

Very unlikely there’ll be a repeat but I’ll live in hope for a little while yet.

Ironically we were closer to top of league that day than we are now.

We were 9 pts behind lead at that point of losing but had 2 games in hand.

Although Ipswich who were 3rd were only 8 ahead of us they had a game in hand on us.

Either way better than where we are now!
