So according to you we go for Aarons which I agree with we still have Trent and keep Neco to loan him out.  Neco would never get a game let alone a run of games for us at any point in his career if we had Aarons who's 21 and Trent who's 22.

I'm sure Neco will be pleased with the above scenario as well.

Competition for places can only be a good thing, no?

Who knows if Trent will continue at right back or be moved into central midfield in the future. I certainly don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility for Trent to move into central midfield, the position where he began his career playing for us at youth level.

What if Aarons comes in and flops? I don't think he will, but again, nothing is a certainty.

If we were seriously looking to bring in another specialist right back, which I don't believe we will, then Aarons would certainly tick a lot of boxes, but I wouldn't want to be dismissive of a 19 year old who is learning his trade based off of a handful of games this season and the small sample size of last season.

I don't believe we'll look for a specialist right back in the summer, but more a central defender who could play there, and has had experience of playing there, if/when needed. I also think that if that kind of player is not available, then we'd look at a specialist centre back with Joe Gomez then deputising at right back if Trent were not available.

We should look to bring in a full back who could cover both positions effectively like Maitland-Niles, James Justin, Danilo, or Castagne.

Unless Tsimikas is moved on in the summer, I don't think we'll look at a specialist full back. However we do know that Klopp has favoured flexible/versatile players in his career, so you could of course never rule anything out. Kevin Grosskreutz at Dortmund was a fine example of the flexibility that Klopp likes.

Of the 4 names you mention, I've certainly been more impressed with James Justin, though Maitland-Niles will also offer the potential of playing in a central midfield role too. A less good James Milner, if you will.

Competition being the word.  Neco does not and will never offer that to Trent, Aarons or whoever at this club.  If by some fuck up he is we're in big trouble.

Aarons can play left back as well.

Dynamite has watched Neco Williams for years like me, he also watched the much lauded Adam Lewis who is not as good in many people’s opinions. Unless we are moving Trent into midfield I doubt we will pay £30m for Aarons wether he can play both sides or not, I would but we won’t I feel. Both Williams have tried, they’re young and inexperienced but like others I feel the PL may not be their future.

We have first team players like Origi strolling around earning good money and the likes of Keita and Chamberlain hardly ever fit on top money.

Keep Gini, and play 3 from Hendo, Fab, Gini,, Thiago. Probably the best midfield in the league, only city is similar.

Buy a top class centre half, Khouibaly or similar (younger)

Get a top class centre forward, Haaland.

Sell all the shite and sicknotes. That'll cover the centre half. John henry can buy Haaland, he'll double in value in a couple of years, he likes that kind of thing.

Easy this.

Been linked with this Austrian lad.

Absolute stamp of quality at the beginning there.

Scored in his last 6 matches, the last player to do that for Stuttgard was......

Never watched him, looks a interesting prospect there. Big, decent touch, good link up play. Reminds me a little of Giroud and Crouchie(and he's 6'7)

Great finisher. I like him. Imagine him feasting on crosses from Trent and Robbo.

I miss the days when Austrian lads had proper Austrian names. Like Adolf Hitler, Josef Fritzl, and Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Does he have actual decent touch? Or merely good touch for a big lad?

Being strongly linked to this Konate lad at Leipzig as the new centre back signing this summer. £36m release clause.

Fucking hell, his injury record is shocking. Fifteen appearances this season. Eleven appearances this season and is currently injured.

Surely, we're not that fucking daft as to sign this lad given his availability record and given we'll still have Joel Matip in the squad?

it just gives Nat more chances.

i have seen a few things in recent days where it all seems to be suggesting we are after just a defender and a forward this summer. i think it would be disappointing if that is all we brought in.

Disagree, if those players are of top quality (right into or around the first 11) that would be a pretty good window.

What would be disappointing is three players in -m all of whom struggle to get on the bench.

Simon Hughes today writing that a top forward is the priority signing this summer.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is just a forward and centre back this summer, though I’d like to see a new midfielder too should Gini leave. Bissouma please.

If Kabak keeps putting in performances like last nights then 18m for him is a no-brainer, which hopefully frees up more money to throw at the best forward available. I’m allowed to dream.

I like the cut of that Austrian lad. Somebody who can dominate in the air would give us a completely different focus for some games, one that we clearly need given how most teams sit back against us now.

Also, since Virgil and Matip got injured, a corner kick for us serves no purpose other than the start of an opposition counter attack.

Interesting that there’s no mention of a midfielder there. Maybe we’re holding out hope that Gini signs but you’d think he absolutely will need replacing. Then again Ox, Keita, Milner, Hendo, Fabinho, Thiago and Jones is already pretty stacked. It’s a shame we won’t be able to move Ox and Keita on.

personally i want to see a central midfielder to replace gini, i don't think thiago is that man. and keita is never fit. or chamberlain. and milner is 187. and to be truthful, i would prefer we get rid of some of those fringe players (like chamberlain) who can't or won't contribute. my starting point is 3 players through the spine and try and refresh the fringe.

The Konate link makes no sense. Essentially would mean getting rid of Kabak in favour of a more expensive, more injury prone, nominal 4th choice. Or we're replacing Matip with a less experienced, equally injured centre back. Unless he was to turn into a top player very quickly, there's not much upside there.
