Odegaard, good signing by Arsenal at last (that lokonga is interesting, but based on the Brentford game needs some time). £30m is on the low end of what I thought Real would have wanted.

Yeah, they've been missing a talented attacking midfielder who doesn't score or assist much and needs development to push on.

I can see them lining up in a 4-2-3-1 with Saka, Odegaard and Smith-Rowe as the three supporting Aubameyang/Lacazatte.

Real tend to stick a buy back clause in to their top prospects sales don’t they? I feel like they bought and sold Morata about 4 times.

Dont get the hype surrounding Odegaard myself. Yeah, signed for Real as a very young lad but, loaned out repeatedly. Suggests to me if someone like chelsea had got him when he and his family were touting him around Europe, they'd have sent him out on loan repeatedly as well.

He's clearly a 'good' player but as to whether he's a signing that will make a difference to any team, Im not even going to walk up that hill.

Did well at Soceidad and played ok for Arsenal even if the output wasn't obvious, I was being flippant earlier when mentioning Smith Rowe (agree they can play in the team) but given they are so desperate for a top class keeper and right back signing him when the younger version is already in the side seems like an odd choice.

Given his reputation I was underwhelmed by him last season.

Can't believe we've been reduced to discussing Arsenal's transfers.

To be fair, they are the only club doing anything.

Apart from their 2 games v us, I can’t confess to watching much of Arsenal last season. Still, I don’t remember many others talking about Odergaard in such glowing terms they would contemplate spending £40m on him.

I can only assume Ramsdale is going for the hat trick of relegations.

Still, be nice if Arsenal picked up a point on Sunday.

I mentioned how shit a signing Ramsdale was for Sheff Utd on here and someone said I was being unfair on him. Well I’m doubling down on that, even Mig looked half decent in a shit relegated side because he had 100 shots a game at him and only let in 2 or 3. Ramsdale has never even reached that level. He just looks average. Like a decent no2 like Butland, Begovich or Raimond Van Der Gouw. Sheff Utd spent over £40m on him and Brewster, chumps.

To be fair, the clubs spending a lot of money in this economy are abnormal. Clubs in Spain aren't spending, Italy and Germany either. In France it's only PSG, Rennes, who has a rich owner, and Marseille, who had about 15 contracts end last summer and needed to change their squad.

The only teams really spending are the mega rich scumbag owner clubs and some Premier League clubs, who have received loans and have the safety net of the massive TV deal. It's basically a micro-market.
