Yes they probably could have moved quicker for a player on loan but they were never likely to just go and buy option C in desperation. 

Honestly, we've supposedly built the most sophisticated scouting network and analytics team in the world. There's barely a player from about 8 years old in the world we didn't know about. With all of this information, all of this knowledge, we could only find 2 chaps who were both playing at the same club at a time we didn't have 1 fit centre back? Fuck me, if that's all we can manage, we need to be questioning what the fuck we're doing. In recent years with all our knowledge, this same side has provided us keita (shite), we chased Werner for I don't know how long till we decided we were skint (who's been shite too), a player from the same group in minamino who's been shite and then we can only find these 2 centre backs. Are we really casting our nets wide enough if this is all we can find?

I feel sorry for Phillips. His contribution should have earned him a good move and a good club. I wonder if the flops we've had leaving for decent money is now starting to backfire a little and clubs are starting to realise without a bit of klopp magic dust, these fringe players are not so good. We need Eddie Howe to get a club.
