Signing of Ronaldo sums United up well. Lots and lots of good players, but no long term, or short term for that matter, clear idea of how to build a team.

Whilst adding probably close to £1m a week to the wage bill with Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo

To be fair, if we'd signed Messi, I doubt many of us would have criticised the move for being short term. You get the chance to sign of the 2 or 3 goats, then you do it.

Injuries to key players - relying on Oirgi when Salah & Mane are at the Afcon.

It would be incredibly bad luck to have injuries anywhere near last season.

When Mane and Salah are away, Jota and Firmino will obviously start with another. Given we play Brighton and Palace, clearly not ideal but I think we can deal with it for those 2 games.

Ideally, we’ll sign an attacker before the window closes, but it’s looking less likely.

I don't think we'll score anywhere near enough goals to get us to 90 pts. Added on to significant improvement from other teams, and I think we'll be somewhere between 75-85 pts (lower and upper ends)

Why do you think that?

I don’t think there have been significant improvements to sides. Bigger improvements than having VVD back?

it might be a short-term signing for a player entering middle-age on a ludicrous wage, but Ronaldo's still an incredibly good player who'll strengthen them no doubt. Hopefully those wages, and his ego, will put a few noses out of joint in the changing room.

I'm still pretty relaxed about it though. Unless they've got something else up their sleeves, they'll be playing out this season with two of McTominay, Fred and Matic in their midfield. And Ole managing them. And far better that the greasy one makes ManU a stronger side than makes City practically unstoppable, which was the likelihood for a time.

Based on an outlier season where we had to compromise the attacking output to protect the defence or the seasons prior?

2016/17 - 78

2017/18 - 84

2018/19 - 89

2019/20 - 85

2020/21 - 68

Our goal scoring has been fairly consistent prior to last season.

80 golas is plenty to get to 90 points, especially if we stop leaking at the back. I think we can manage that.

I look forward to young Harvey Elliott outsprinting the greasy tumbler, wrestling the ball from him before leaving him in a crumpled mess of tears, swear, spunk and hair gel.

At least it'll be him left like that this time and not the people brought to his Las Vegas hotel rooms.

I regret this post already

At the end of last summer’s window, we were saying it was negligent to go into the season with just 3 recognised centre backs. At the end of this window, we’ll be saying it’s negligent to go into the season with no adequate cover for the front 4. Making unnecessary risks because our owners will not invest in the squad will only result in one outcome, again. It’s fucking scandalous how they get away with it.

No, some people were saying having 3 centre backs was negligent and that was with hindsight even after they'd said degsy wasnt good enough.

Same thing this season, not everyone is saying it's 'negligent.'
