I don't think top level players had any real interest in joining us for several years between peak-Rafa and Klopp, despite the obvious temptation of playing alongside Stewart Downing or Charlie Adam. We lucked out with signing Suarez when we did.

Fernandes has been very good for them since his signing outside of very big games. Seems like the type of chap whose nose will be out of joint over this. Their free kicks, which had actually been pretty decent, should be worth watching over the next while.

I don’t think the mancs will substantially challenge this season and I still think that. 
 

They’ll be closer but I still don’t think it’ll be enough. 
 

Even when Ronaldo was winning the league under Ferguson, their average points total was 88.7 and they had a far better side than they have now.

 

IMO, it’ll be 90+ points to win the league again this season and I fundamentally don’t see the mancs getting that.

The City journo for the Athletic has said City were kean to do the deal with Ronaldo but he ultimately rejected them for United.

Our PPG from the first 14 and last 10 games of last season would have had us getting 90 points.

 

City only got 86 last season. 

 

Obviously don’t mention the middle 14 games but there was significant extenuating circumstances for that.

I don't think we'll score anywhere near enough goals to get us to 90 pts. Added on to significant improvement from other teams, and I think we'll be somewhere between 75-85 pts (lower and upper ends)
