We're not signing anyone. The profit we've made in this window, plus the £150m of TV money, will be going straight into Davy Jones' Locker.

Some of the editors on Liverpoolrumours, who are actually agents and tend to be spot on, say Jurgen is keen and Barca are desperate to get rid , even if it’s a loan for the year. I think they still owe us about £40m so this would get that off their books, along with at least half his £400k wages.

Coutiniho doesn't earn 400k, their salaries are down across the board. Here's the latest update after the pay cuts they've all taken.

As for the 40m they owe us, LFC have sold that debt in some form, so I doubt it helps us greatly to write it off. In addition to this, some of the outstanding fee from Barca is add ons, it's actually in our interests for him to remain there, play and kick in those add ons. Coutiniho isn't worth 40m now anyway. He has just 2 years left on his contract. He's 29. He's back off an injury almost as long as vvd. His previous season Bayern paid a 9m loan fee for 12 months.

Personally I am not sure we would even take coutiniho if he was offered free.

Wasn’t it Barca who sought finance for the Coutinho transfer rather than us?

I thought they took out a loan as they were struggling to meet the staggered payments, paid up in full (minus the add ons) and spread the cost of the transfer over a longer period of time. But with a hefty % added on.

Or am I going fucking senile already?

Terrified now…

Unlikely, but does make som sense:

MBappe to Liverpool

Salah to PSG

We get a 22 year old for a 30 year old

They, Quatar Ltd, gets the hero of the Arabic world, and doesn't have to worry about MBappe leaving on a free next year.

Don't think it's going to happen, but it's not beyond possible

I think both actually! So we announced in our accounts that we'd sold the debt so all of the money was in up front. Then through covid Barca had cashflow issues, so did a big refinancing deal to meet their obligations, so they haven't covered future payments.

I reckon it would be more likely mbappe would go to Madrid and they'd try and get Salah.

But juve seem to be touting Ronaldo round, could that be the easiest deal for them?

That's the kind of thing that makes me think people just like transfers for transfers sake not because they're genuinely interested in the team.

It's become more important to spend the most or win the 'banter' wars than it has to actually play the game.

(Sorry for directing that at your post it's mainly a broader thought about the transfer window this was just a decent example of it).

Why players have these greedy fuck agents I don't know. You know your value why let some fucking leech rinse you. For the money touted i wouldn't want Haaland or Mbappe are they going they going improve you that much in the grand scheme if things when you look at the long term consequences of such contracts.

Well I think it's hard to sell your value without agents, especially early in your career. They're fucking leaches but it's hard to see how we get rid of them. Their take from the game should be managed though. I would insist they can only represent one of the 3 parties in any deal and that party is responsible for paying their end.
