I didn’t think he did anything wrong today. Wasn’t at fault for any of the goals and has landed in the middle of the leagues biggest basket case yet he’s getting pilloried. 
 

Still would have started Phillips today over him.

We keep playing him and he’ll improve. We’re rebuilding. There’ll be more incoming in the summer, until then, he and Alisson have to meld. They can do it.

He wasn’t at fault for the goal. He didn’t have a great debut though. Hendo bailed him out a couple of times.

Kabak looked very nervous and did very little of anything yesterday. It should have been a gentle introduction and was until Alonso and Alisson shat the bed . Quite honestly on what we saw it's impossible to say whether he is any better or worse than Philipps and Williams. What we learned was that he has a very sculptured haircut that still looks neat and tidy after 90 minutes jogging about.

Everyone's first day in the job keeps their head down. He kept it simple and safe probably feels at fault for the goal but that was just a mixup with Allison bombing out when he should have left it. It's they way things are for us now, any mistakes and it's serious and costly.

Didn't see him win any tackles or challenges in the air and he got done for pace several times. 

 

Phillips has got to be a bit pissed off of with these other bums keep playing in front of him when he's been our best defender since Virv got injured.

Him and Davies was the absolute minimum outlay to fool us into thinking something was "being done" about CBs.

 

This lad might end up being OK, but can't see us buying him.

He had a weird game. Mega mega tentative and reactive, wasn't going into duels, was passing it 5 yards sideways every time. It felt like he was told to go out there and not fuck it up, which resulted in him essentially just being a complete passenger.

His first game in the PL, and he’s very little experience. I reckon he was super nervous. He’ll improve; he’ll get to know the team more, our style of play, the style of the league, etc.. whether he’ll ever be good enough I’m not sure, but I’m hoping he will as we know we can’t rely on Matip.

That's all you can do, you have to give him time, let's hope he comes on and does a job.

As far as debuts go, he did simple things, then Alli fucked him over. I really cannot get over Alli being so irresponsible after his antics in the previous game against city.

My favourite bit was when he got twatted in the face, kept his eye on the ball, headed it clear, then went down and got their player a yellow card. Beautiful.

Thought he was very decent. 

 

You can see he is raw, but he has good qualities. I actually think by giving him the rest of the season, it's a masterstroke. If he's good, 20 million is a steal. If not, we haven't lost anything.

 

The best thing about if this comes off is that come August he is embedded in the team rather than being a new signing.

Much, much better than at the weekend.  Decent defensively and even ventured forward a few times. He looked comfortable, like a man who knows what he’s supposed to do and is competent enough to do it.

Yeah agree with that Ronnie. He's just doing the simple things which is all you want a young lad coming into a struggling team to do.

 

 Think it's a bit tough on young Rhys and Nat though because despite all the crap thrown at the team, they havent been responsible for the run of poor results.
