He has been really impressive overall when you look at the shitstorm he walked into.

I really thought he looked shite everytime i saw him for Schalke so surprised how well he has just stepped in and the job he has done. We should be taking up that option to sign him in the summer and another CB and letting Matip go.

He's not slow and is ok on the ball and in the air, but his positioning is a bit shit. But also he doesnt seem to get injured too much either. Probably worth keeping for the right price. Schalke are being relegated so he will probably be sold relatively cheaply. I think he'll stay myself,which wont be a bad thing overall.

I think he's worth a punt at £18m let's see him along side VVD for a period of time and see how he develops, Gomez although prone to a few mistakes has come on 10 fold since Van Djyk arrived.

I think his confidence has been increasing , started using the ball better and bringing it occasionally into midfield. Get him in the gym and I think he will be a good buy.

I like him. I'd keep him and have him as backup for virgil and gomez, or virgil and whichever none crocked player we buy. He's shown more than enough to justify the optional fee.

I think he's good and in a normal year, he'd be well worth the 18m. Whoever buys him will likely sell him for double that in a few years.

 

But in a year with pandemic-related financial concerns, I can totally understand the decision to only buy one centre back, and if you have to buy one, Konate is almost certainly going to end up the better player.

 

Save the 18m to put towards a midfielder or a forward.
