Glad the pantomime is now over and we get back to the game for what it is and not this endless "Smashing Ceilings" bollocks.

 

Lisa Ashton along with Mikuru Suzuki are fantastic players with titles to back it up. Sherrock has no titles, she beat a jobber in Ted Evetts and a badly out of form Suljovic, two years ago; yet Barry Hearn is obviously after shagging her so she gets pushed more. Mardle is an insufferable cunt too wanting her to be in the PL or get a Tour Card. You earn those places. She averaged around 80 last night and in the PL those averages will see you hammered every week.

 

Sherrock even says it herself that she's just playing a game and the other players don't see her as a woman, just another darts player, which is spot on.

If she's that blonde,thin girl then she's nothing special,just very good. She's capable of beating a few men and being hammered by the better ones. Her importance is that she should set a marker(see what I did there?) for future women to eclipse her and compete with the more elite male players too.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Sherrock. She's had a shit time with her health over the years, still been brave enough to throw herself up against the men, and she's reached finals, beaten some good players and given the likes of MVG a game too.

 

I agree Ashton and Suzuki are probably better players than Sherrock, they proved that by beating her in BDO tournaments, but she was the first to beat a man so she's rightly getting the spotlight shone on her. If she doesn't continue to perform the spotlight will fade.

This crowd is the worst its ever been this year. Don't remember it ever being this bad pre-Covid. It's almost like the break from having live crowds at the darts saw them forget any kind of fan etiquette existed.. 

 

The horrendous little Englander shit and the utterly lame "Scotland get battered" chant, the booing of people like Willie Borland (he's a young lad, who's done nothing wrong) and disrespecting class acts Steve Beaton just because they have a sophomoric semi-on for Fallon, and so on.

 

Even the crowd favourites are having to intervene and try to make sure there's a bit of respect shown to their opponent. It's going to be a nightmare for Price as the tournament goes on. 

 

Now they're singing that Demba Ba song for some reason after singing about Harry Maguire, as if that constant Kolo/Yaya Toure cringe wasn't bad enough. It's an Ingerlund fan paradise that place. It's all very well singing "Stand up if you hate Boris" but half of these six-toed morons probably voted for him to "Get Brexit done."  

 

Honestly, I love the worlds more than most sporting events in the calendar, but I'd rather have three darts thrown into my eyeballs than be in that crowd of utter banter-merchant, unoriginal, shit lager swigging bell-ends.

I used to think it was funny how absolutely twatted they'd all get and would just be rotten in the background while players are battling it out. Now just as you say, it's full of utter gobshites. Still a laugh to go with your mates but the majority there are proper cunts. I've not watched any of it this year so far but when I read that Beaton got booed I just thought fuck off. The man's a legend of the sport.

I have a lot of respect for Sherrock and her ability as a player. The media hype is what fucks me right off. Lisa Ashton earned a Tour Card and beat quite a few men on her way to it, a bit of noise was made about it and I was buzzing for her when she won it. I was happy for Sherrock beating Ted Evetts and Suljovic but the way the media hype it up, you'd think she won the entire tournament.

 

I'm under no illusions that Fallon Sherrock would destroy me if I played against her. My average is around 45-55 so I'm certainly not at her level. I hope she does eventually go on to win a tournament but until then, I'd like to see other female players, who've won titles, receive the same attention.

Stevie Beaton getting booed is one of the reasons the Sherrock hype machine brasses me off. The BDO tournament was a lot better as the crowd was always pretty respectful of the players on the stage; unfortunately the better players always jumped ship for the PDC and the money.

Think that's the "Feed The Stands" chant, which is the annual, tiresome back-and-forth with the tables who get "boring, boring tables" sang to them. The implication is that the tables are more expensive.

I'd love to see him win it again. Been a fan of Barney for years and was gutted when he retired in the manner he did.

Had to nip out mid match so I paused it and just watched it through now.

 

The Raymond of early years appeared in the first set and the Raymond of 2012 onwards turned up for the rest of it.

 

Shame really. My outsider bet on the darts is now finished as well. Had £2 on Barney at 150/1 before the comp. Dmitri van den Bergh was another to suffer my betting curse. I only have Johnny Clayton, MVG and Price left.
