Id say united's 13 titles compared to our 1 since the big money started to roll in has a major say in that. They've enjoyed wall to wall coverage by Sky and even the BBC. Yes, viewing figures may be comparable between us and united but sponsors like winning teams. Dont forget through the 90's we had David Moores trying to re establish the club along the olld football lines. CoCo sold our shirt sponsorship to Carlsberg in 2005 for a million a season, didnt he?

I wouldn't be surprised if the number of decision makers at major companies who support the Mancs far exceeds the number who support us. They had 10- 15 years of more or less complete dominance while we could only point at the past and people love to attach themselves to winners.  If we continue winning titles for another decade the situation will probably be reversed.

Which we probably will if we get a quality CB now and keep Gini. These to factors will keep the success rolling for at least a couple of years with the current squad and give us time to rebuild effectively to keep the throne.

 

If we Scrooge ourselves out of the top 4 we may face a long climb to the top again.
