Author Wilbur Smith gone at 88.

His BBC obituary says he wrote about "early African history" like the gold rush (in the 1880s).

I was reading his Wikipedia article recently and it struck me how old he was. Truly one of the 20th century's great composers.

There was a story a while back about a composer who had Alzheimer's but had managed to compose a new symphony with his sons help. Somebody sent it to Sondheim as he was this blokes hero, and Sondheim sent a video message to the bloke praising his symphony. A lovely gesture and it made the old bloke so happy it was lovely to see.

Seems Sondheim was a good man as well as being an immense talent.

Was that the post-match interview where he said something like "they play wonderful football, I just wish they'd go and do it somewhere else"?
