'The world provides enough for everybody, but it doesn't provide enough for their greed' is to paraphrase somebody much smarter than myself.

True, I hadn't heard that one.

Oh, right. That's 7 and a half miles away. And it's not that affluent, sort of middling.

Parts are very affluent, especially near the golf course, there are a lot of two up two downs dotted around as well though, I’ve always thought Meols to be affluent which is slightly closer to you

Wallasey is next to one of the more affluent areas in the North West. You only have to spend a day in London to see how close money is to poverty. You know all this.

Negged for responding knowing full well where the conversation will go.

With someone lying? Yep, fair one.

Everyone knows that, you're the only one that consistently bites. A thread on poverty is tory heaven for him, don't engage with him.

I used to have a fantasy football team called "The Railway Pub in Meols is full of blerts"!

Nowt to do with the thread, everytime I see the word Meols it reminds me of this fact.

Like the Tardis in reverse that pub, it's bigger than the White House but the bar looks like it's in someone's shed.

I only went in once years ago with my missus, her mate, her mates fella and their little lad (he was little then, he's 18 now and a fucking monster). The owners and staff were some of the rudest cunts I've ever encountered in my life. I wouldn't frequent that establishment again with a fucking howitzer to my head!

What the actual fuck?

Imagine thinking that someone pointing out how much poverty is invisible is some kind of Tory troll.

You absolute pillock.

Near the golf course is West Kirby.

Yes, Meols is affluent and slightly closer, it's only 6 and a half miles away.

Not sure people from Meols and West Kirby are popping into my local Tesco for condiments, but I appreciate all the attempts to invalidate my lived experiences.

Klarna is trending on twitter this morning because a few betting companies are offering deposits using them. Absolutely fucking disgraceful.

I’m not trying to invalidate anything I’m just making an observation

Not really aimed at you, sorry. I'm just fed up with dense people calling me a Tory. They don't have a clue.

Well if you were a Tory you don’t strike me as being the type of person who would be afraid to say so, you don’t exactly run with the crowd on here when it comes to politics . You’ve stood as a Lib Dem candidate haven’t you? Are you still a party member?

You can be a Tory without voting Tory.

You can't see poverty but you can see affluence all around you?

That's fucking horrific. Real dystopian shit. I saw something the other day about paying for a Dominos pizza on a Zilch payment programme. Paying for a fast food hit that lasts 25 minutes for three months.

Where the fuck capitalism goes after this I don't know, but it's only going to be worse isn't it?

Yes, have been for nearly 30 years. As you see from No2's response above though, anyone to the right of Stalin is basically a Tory in some people's eyes.

Nice cars are kind of conspicuous, don't you think.

Not really no. No more conspicuous than a clunker tbh, but you either don't have those in your neck or you don't notice them. My guess is there are probably a few.

I don't really see clunkers that often any more. It's not like the 80s where every other person drove an Austin Allegro or similar crapmobile.

Keep on building those strawmen.

Nice -- where were you able to identify your neighborhood as being in the top 2%?

I didn't see anything on that in the article posted.

I live in one of the most affluent areas of the country and can see poverty everywhere. The closed shops, the dodgy estates, the prevalence of bookies and charity shops on the High St, the scrawny kids in second hand clothes etc etc

Of course, I can see wealth everywhere as well... massive houses. packed upmarket eateries and winebars, big cars etc

It's like some sort of unofficial apartheid based on economics rather than colour.
