It’s going to be nip and tuck for 3rd and 4th. Leicester, Tottenham, Villa and Everton have about as much chance as we do, while Chelsea and Southampton can’t be ruled out yet.

There’s no question that we’ll have to spend like Chelsea in the summer if we miss out this time around. I’m sure FSG would have learnt from their egregious error in not buying a centre back and lavish money on the team accordingly.

Link up play between Trent and Salah has been awful for a long while now.

So many times in the past few games when Salah is making an obvious run down the line, Trent ignores him to make a more difficult pass crossfield or a sideways pass into midfield.

Seems we now have a player who even hates Salah more than Mane allegedly does. *tongue in cheek*

This teams done. Desperately needs freshening up.

It has been freshened up, we added Jota and Thiago, both exceptional players.

What happened was we lost the best centre back in the world and his apprentice meaning we now need to play two of our most important players in positions we don't get the most out of them and we lose all tactical impetus and thrust.

It's shit, but without the Everton yard dog assault we'd be pissing this league.

People will talk about the attack, but we created nothing with Salah, Mane, Firmino, Shaqiri and Thiago on the pitch. The balance of the team is so off without defenders. It simply can't be a quality issue, it's an "we have to protect the defense" issue. An issue which likely won't be fixed in the market and Matip will keep being injured, so essentially, the season is over as far as winning anything of significance goes.

This was just a continuation of the West Brom performance with better players as the opposition.

Yeah I think that's it too but surely we can take a few more risks against the crap we've played against recently

No buying centre halves is criminal. It's fucking up everything else.

But obviously we need to freshen up that forward line as well. Bobby has been poor for going on 2 years, with only occasional short bursts of form. Mane and Salah look tired.

They bring on Cavani and Greenwood, we bring on Origi.

If we're doing it repeatedly its probably not down to the players. Probably a coaching thing.

We’re probably doing it because they are totally superior in the air. By playing it short  we’re hoping to create some movement and from that space before we cross it.

With no CBs we provide more or less no threat from corners and crosses from free kicks. Mane is our main threat, and to some degree Bobby. The rest are making up the numbers in the box.

So many whining utter morons. "The team is shot"; "the team needs a rebuild". Could you be any more fucking clueless. The team cannot play its natural game when two central midfielders are playing at the back in the absence of the greatest centre back in the modern era and one of two other top other centre backs besides him. Its an unfathomable situation to be in; other than Carrick, Essien & Fernandinho briefly playing games alongside another established centre back I can't think of a similar equivalent for a top side in the past 30 years. Its that simple.

In fairness, Origi was probably our best forward today.

Playing Jota against midget land has really goosed us. He was papering over the cracks.

Yup. Klopp really doesnt help himself sometimes, whinges about injuries and players being overplayed and then plays first teamers in dead rubbers and goes entire matches without making any subs.

We've just stopped scoring goals, no shit sherlock! Is that the 3rd consecutive game we havent scored? Not good enough. The draw will suit them better than us and we need to play a whole lot better in the cup next week.

The lack of fans must kill the drive the players get from a crowd. These games are played at not much more than testimonial pace so it's surprising so many passes arent accurate.

We created enough chances in that game to have won it handsomely. But if you're not getting shots on target  that test the keeper, you aint scoring.

Think the time has come for Jurgen to look at breaking up the front 3 because it isnt working between them anymore despite the 7 at palace.

Bobby had some real good chances to score but fluffed every one of them. I love Bobby but he tried the back heels too often now. It's almost a desparation kick with him. Sadio has gone quiet and doesnt look to be terrorising defences any more. Defenders know all they have to do is crowd out Mo.

How many of Mo, Sadio, Bobby, Gini, Thiago and Shaq have more than one shot on target? Im thinking Bobby, and Thiago. Maybe Shaq?

We had lots of possession and worked ourselves into good position but once again, we look to over egg the pudding. Be decisive, first touch, move the ball quickly to a red shirt and get a pop off. Im sick to the back teeth of seeing everyone wanting another touch in the box and watching the chance evarporate.

At the other end, I didnt see a lot wrong with the defence. Alli deserves to be MoTM with a couple of excellent saves considering most of the game, he had fuck all to do.

Once again, I thought the ref gave us fuck all in contract to them being given free kicks all over the park.

Same shit. We arent learning anything. Weve become the most predictable side in the league. Buy some fucking centrebacks and get Fabinho and Henderson back in midfield. 30 years to win the title and we are handing it back like it means nothing. "We won't defend the title we will attack it" fuck me how typical it turns out we cant attack for shit.

Alisson and Fabinho were good. Henderson not bad. The rest need to do more.

We seem to play in a big circle. Build up attack with the centre backs. Go wide to the full backs. Down the line to the wide attackers. Inside to the central players. Out to the opposite full back, then go back to the centre backs or the number 6. And then start the circle again.

We've gone from being heavy metal football to being a dull, unoriginal, samey Nickelback in such a short time.

It absolutely is.

Fact we are seemingly doing fuck all about it is criminal.

Disappointing. Thank christ the scum didn’t grab it late from us. Not all bad. Defensively, we can be pleased with a clean sheet against the in-form away team, with Hendo solid & Ali saving our bacon on more than one occasion, but clearly our attacking game is off. So is our pressing game.  The urgency is not there. We’re not finding a way to win, like last season. Thiago’s bit of class was nearly the difference, but his shot was too close to the keeper.

onwards and upwards. City still with a game in hand, but we’re in the mix and should be capable of improving. Truth is, we dodged a bullet today.
