Mane and Salah just don’t go wide so our tactics are essentially work it from side to side and if a situation doesn’t open up, which never does because every pass is so safe, then play it to the full back to cross into the midgets.  We need Salah and Mane on the touchline driving in with the ball.  This is clearly another game where they see it as a stat padder and don’t want to play the early pass under any circumstances.

 

Henderson is having another absolute shocker.  His passing and crossing has been awful.  He’s positionally all over the shop.

 

We need to change something fundamental because this is showing we could football against a team at any level and this is the potential result.

Slow, predictable, lacking any intensity. What's happened to us, where's the pace, movement, speed, skill and incision? Sideways passing, slow, easy to predict and then a looped cross with hardly anyone in the centre to meet the cross, or easy for the opposition goalkeeper to collect, if not overhit. It's like watching a completely different team to the past two seasons. Feels like we are holding back. Where is the heavy metal football? Feels like they are walking through treacle. Like they've all got covid on the brain. No imagination. Am not usually one to overreact, but the players really need to start playing like the champions they are.

Jurgen needs to give Mo, Gini, Fabinho, Henderson a right fucking bollocking after that display. Their keeper has been under no pressure and we've tried to walk the ball in the net yet again. Hendo, Gini, Neco all wanting a touch too many and Neco needs to fuck off with the Lallana cruyff turn bollocks. Mo knocked off the ball by U23 players? Kelleher made himself too small on their effort as well.

 

Really dont know how Gini scores so many for the Netherlands but he looks shocking in front of goal for us. Smallish squad playing high intensity football over the last couple of years with minimal breaks looks to have run out of steam both physically and particularly mentally? We can raise our game sporadically (7-0 Palace) but can't do it week in week out now.

Putting a shift in should be an absolute minimum. Too many thinking the game was won as long as we turned up.

Even if we win this game by 5 in the second half, that 1st half will have been enough to prove these players simply don't give a fuck right now and haven't done for months, if there wasn't enough evidence of that already. The damage is done.
