If he was so bothered about mass detentions, sham trials, threatening people into silence he'd be condemning Israel, Saudi Arabia and others. It's not about that though, it's about communism/socialism. President of the United Sanctions of America.

I wonder how long he'll last before he starts up on Venezuela? Too much oil there to ignore surely. And the chance of getting US corps in there and fucking the country over with a big IMF loan so they're stuck with debt too and whatever else they want as conditions for the loan.

Australian sky is like fox news isn't it because it's full Murdoch while over here it's only past Murdoch. Murdoch is a cunt and everyone who works for him is.

Any coincidence that the three biggest crackpot right wing English speaking countries are the ones where he has the most inflience, us, Oz and USA.

Except in the US its right and left crackpots CNN  and Fox cut from the same cloth

I would agree with you wholeheartedly, Secsh, and I of course do, 99% of the time.

A caveat, however, from an Australian POV... and of course, I'll get a kicking from @Jose Jones, my TLW political moderator, as usual... but what the fuck, here goes:

... I think Joe Biden is a careerist weasel.  He may well have "changed" in the last 12 months and shown his true, genuine, caring colours, fair enough, but a careerist weasel he's been all those years prior.

The other day, he declared, when pulling the troops out of Afghanistan for good... that he's been a "sceptic" of "America's longest war" all along.  To that, my opinion is... bullshit, Joe.

So I wrote this letter to The Age, a leftist paper in Melbourne and, together with the Sydney Morning Herald, our national "left" voice:

As gentle and sage Democrat suggestions are made that Donald Trump's racist "China Virus" might indeed have had its origins somewhere inside the Great Wall, news recently in is also telling us that gentleman Joe Biden has long been a sceptic of America's prolonged presence in Afghanistan. As he calls a halt to US involvement in this skirmish, one wonders why Biden, despite harbouring such convictions on "America's longest war", decided to keep schtum on such an important issue when he was holding the relatively, one would think, important and influential position of Vice-President. Clearly Biden's younger hope-filled protege Barack Obama, not too mention successive Clinton administrations as well of course, knew better. As for what that civil unrest-inciting tyrant Donald Trump thinks about it all, well, that's about as irrelevant now as it's frankly always been, n'est-ce pas?

It didn't get published, and that's fair enough.

The thing is, over the years, I've had 100s of letters published in The Age (Left) and The Australian (Murdoch Right).  From letters to The Australian, I once had to get a silent telephone number (threats from Left wing people who didn't like my letters, even though, they are always written in a light-hearted, piss-takey way.  Always.).

My letters to The Age have, generally, taken the piss out of the Right, and they get published fine and dandy.

The difference is, The Australian (Murdoch) will publish letters - readily, like many of mine over the years - that take the piss out of the Right.

Whereas The Age (Left) will NEVER publish a letter (of mine or anyone's, 99 times out of 100) that takes the piss out of the Left.

So, while we are a crackpot right-wing country, Australia... and right you are as usual Secsh... we are a right-wing crackpot country that, publishing-wise, sees the Right much more readily, I think, willing to take the piss out of the political pantheon... whereas the Left, in my book, refuses much, much more often to have a laugh at itself.

I have been writing to these newspapers, "successfully" and prolifically, since 1994.

So, I await my kicking, and I guess, have asked for it.

I have always thought that the liberal left have never had much of a sense of humour when it comes to laughing at themselves.

Skaro old friend, I think I have vociferously argued with you maybe once on a political thread? I would rather see us both as cynical old bastards, with a due deference to yourself as the more experienced campaigner.

Even though the lefty swine of the Nine group rejected your missive, I’m pleased to see it on TLW. Some small comfort I hope.

I suppose who it is you mean by 'the left.' You can be middle class, have a nice income/job and have left wing political opinions but generally it doesn't matter which government is in power as you'll be ok whatever. Or you could be living on the breadline,in or out of work,in a low income area worried about how to feed and clothe your kids and where your next meal is coming from. If the latter,it's difficult to laugh about much at all. As for the former, maybe their conscience at seeing others living in poverty is no laughing matter to them as they have a conscience despite their higher living standards?

Still quoting Greenwald, eh? I'm sure he'll be on Fox discussing it with his bezzie mate, Tucker Carlson, soon enough.

Yeah he's been one of my fave journo's for years. And it's not like CNN would have him on is it? They're probably too scared about what he'd say. He's been covering 1/6 lately and wondering if the FBI were involved so CNN wouldn't like that.

From a recent article of his :

But the primary reason is that their newsrooms are filled with former FBI operatives, CIA agents, and other former employees of the security state. CNN has more FBI agents and federal prosecutors working for it than anyone outside of the J. Edgar Hoover FBI headquarters in Washington. When they go to analyze any matters involving the FBI, they rely on career FBI agents and officials to tell them what to think. And you’ll never guess what these FBI operatives tell them:

trust the FBI; only malicious conspiracists wonder if the FBI is lying and has been engaged in treachery; those who malign the FBI are liars.

Sanders and that fit bird from New York are very much the exception to the rule, but by and large - be they dem of old school republican - their views on foreign policy, military etc are cookie cutter.

Spot on, and we’ve mostly followed along apart from Vietnam. The US can’t function without a “bad guy” hence the ratcheting up of tensions with China. What a world, hey?

The 'special relationship' suff makes me laugh too.

No country has done more to dismantle the UK's influence and legacy than the USA, we went from Empire to vassel state overnight. I've always said that we lost the Second World War, but we lost it to the USA. Not that I'm especially arsed, promotion prospects in the Indian police force for a lad with my social background would have been few and far between anyway.

Still, I wonder if these GB News type numbskulls will ever notice we went from having battleships out the arse to having seven serviceable frigates and a sphere of influence that's now reduced to the Falklands and Pitcairn Island? Even though we apparently won?

Too many vested interests for the US to break from convention and not appoint an ethically immoral president, we see glimpses of how senile Biden is so imagine what he's actually like without the 24 hour cover up of it.

And yet his suitability to be president was never questioned by the greater American public. Fuckin unbelievable.
