Really fucked up year. I vividly remember the flight over to Rome - about to play Totti, Batistuta, Cafu. LFC legitimised once more after a decade of near-nothingness. What followed in the following year(s) sweetened it even more.

 

It ended badly with Gerard & his career fizzled out after LFC really. That transition though towards a continental manager lay the groundstones for Rafa & Jurgen to follow. What an impactful life & 73 feels much too soon.

The moderniser, he almost gave his life for the club and now it seems heart problems have caught up with him. He brought us into the modern era, gave new life to the club and made Stevie G Carragher & Owen into stars. He also brought in big Sami when no one had heard of him and solved a problem that had haunted us for five years. Above all he was a red through and through. I hope the club do something to commemorate his time here.Thanks for everything Ged, RIP.
