El Diego, gone?

Recommended Posts

To be fair Lineker hasn’t made a big deal of the handball as he say’s all players cheat well I guess he’s got a point as he definitely pushed this first goal (which is always the most important in any game) in with his hand.....

What’s forgotten is that was the day we beat Chelsea 1-0 to win the league so basically goody two shoes could have cost us the league with his underhand tactics

Lineker's cheating is from 1 minute 40

Was listening to someone on the radio earlier and he was telling the story about arl Diego signing autographs for about 5-10 minutes at a training session. Nothing particularly special about that except he did it whilst doing keepie uppies right the way through and the ball didn’t drop once. That must have been awesome for the kids.

Shilton doing the rounds now and coming across as a bitter twat, not sure why he can't just let it go over his head a bit like Maradona's hand

Funny Gascoigne telling him that goal made him while Shilton looks like he's been told Brexit ain't happening

I went to a dinner event for work a couple years ago and Peter Shilton was the guest speaker.

Pretty much most of it was the build to to that match and him laying into Maradona, calling him all sorts.

Bitter as fuck still.

I don’t have any time for Peter Shilton, but he posted this on Twitter.

Is that where he says he doesn’t even know who the fuck Butcher is ??

I've been looking for that clip for ages too. Pretty sure it's from that press conference.

Here we go, but it's a shortened clip.

He only posted that after he got so much stick on there for bringing up the hand of God incident first.

Caught the back end of that hand of god  thing on ITV last night apparently the shirt he was wearing in that match which he swapped with Steve Hodge was  worth 300 grand then and presumably more now since his death .

Hell of a player wish he had played for us .

A lot of collective amnesia around England's braveheart cloggers booting Maradona around the place during the first half of that quarter final.

Brilliant. Some of the quotes and interview clips from the last few days have been great - plenty of barbs delivered mock-innocently.

Just find the fact that he's gone really sad now. Rest easy, legend.

Butcher has mentioned before how after that quarter final, he was summoned to take a doping test. Maradona was the one selected from the opposition, and they were both sat outside the doping room. Maradona was sat there calm as you like, while Butcher was fuming and redder than when he bled all over his shirt.

According to Jimmy Burns' book about him from years ago, Sheffield United almost signed him in the late 1970s.
