Emmylou Harris represents one of the few cases of sexual transmission of country music (not that the culprit was true country himself), she gradually phased country out since about the 80s (not that it would be anything wrong with it if she didn't) and turned to making sophisticated pop for discerning grown-ups.

That run of albums she had from Wrecking Ball to All The Road Running with Mark Knopfler was akin to Johnny Cashs American recordings - not as good of course - but a re-invention.

You need to look up the word "transcend".

 

You get into the Hall of Fame by being good at Country. Emmylou is that, but she's much, much more.
