I’d have Liz Fraser right up there close to the final for this, I absolutely love/adore her voice, could just be my favourite female vocalist of all time.

But she’s regrettably not a solo artist.

Was in band, makes guest appearances on other peoples records but no solo albums.

Wish she’d do more though. Could listen to her voice all day.

Great shout out.

I was thinking much the same about Debbie Harry and Karen Carpenter.

We should give the ladies a pass for being in a band given how popular music is mainly male driven and performed,or at least the business side is and those businessmen often decide who gets to perform and who doesn't.

Kate Bush.

PJ Harvey.

Cat Power.

Dolly Parton.

Laurie Anderson.

Angel Olsen.

Lhasa de Sela.

Artists from classical music should really be excempt from this, as it’s just a whole different ball game, as they say. I kind of feel the same of jazz, as you could easily fill all 7 slots with jazz greats. Then again, I guess the same could be said of country music greats.

Maybe in the bands category. There is more than enough solo women to be able to compose a list of seven names of proper solo artists.

Im sure there was talk of an African comp at one point, yet barely a handful of artists have been nominated in these drafts, particularly the women's one.
