Decent win. We did well considering we were missing 4 or 5 key/important players. And, with West Ham scoring first. They were always going to sit in and make things difficult. Scoring first and early made that even more so.

The ball from Shaqiri for the winner is top class. We needed that little bit of creativity to break them down. Jota starts now, for me.

And a big well done to Phillips. He doesn't look the greatest on the ball. But, you can't ask for more than what he provided today. A very solid defensive performance.

Good shit from Naty P. Did the job.

Notice Shaqiri is on as well when Jota, Mane and Salah are in the front 3. That's what provides the balance. If Jota will replace Firmino, Shaqiri will likely take the place of a midfielder as well.

You're just taking the piss now

Absolutely furious with the disallowed goal, but that match did remind me of some of the best of last season.

Just an absolute refusal to give in.

Strange that their opening goal was not the worst thing that could have happened, as it let them sit back even more than they would have otherwise and kept the pressure off the back four.

But I thought the back four/five were excellent, none-the-less, particularly keeping pressure off Philips who looked pretty solid when called upon.

Hard to overestimate how soul destroying it is for the chasing pack to see the champions just grind out results like this. It was a major factor in our success last year (Palace and Villa away obvious examples) and sustained the Mancs for years. Fingers crossed this campaign has more in common with those examples than with our 90/91 season when we were hampered by major injuries and never got going.

Nah. Save him for a 45 second cameo when we’re seeing it out.

He was great but looked a bit out of place, especially when he played everyone On for that Soucek header at the end.

He looks a bit of an old school lumbering CB, but he did really well.

Have to say that until the replay I didn’t realise just how superb Shaq’s pass to Jota was.

Fully agreed, it's sensational.

If Thiago or De Bruyne played that it would be on gifs everywhere for ages. Brilliant pass to get it through the legs but still keep it soft enough that Jota could easily reach it.

Another prime example of the grit and determination that this team embodies. A huge win in the context, to overcome going a goal behind and a goal chalked off. We just always believe we’ll find a way and we invariably do.

Huge credit to Natt Phillips, immense tonight. Won’t lie I was very concerned about him but he was emphatic and confident in everything he did. Especially the header at the end. Shaqiri again, just a special special player. That pass was absolutely insane, no one else in the squad could play it except him, everything weight, disguise and timing. He deserves just enormous credit, Klopp has treated him like absolutely shite but every time he’s stepped on the pitch he’s delivered something special. Jota is fucking boss, fantastic movement, has that knack of being in the right place at the right time and a fantastic finisher. Needs to be in team in place of Bobby, 3 genuine goal threats up front will be a game changer.
