US Election 2020 Thread

Thread on Twitter from a lawyer going through Powell’s Kraken page-by-page and destroying her. Funny, and informative. And nowhere near finished yet. The only thing biblical about this lawsuit is the slapping Powell will get from a judge. Start here and enjoy, but set aside fifteen minutes, and counting...

Jenna pulling one from the Mail and Priti Patel playbook. Three ‘activist’ Judges. All appointed by Republican presidents. The main opinion by a judge appointed by Trump in 2017.

These people on both sides of the Atlantic have no regard for their dangerous utterances.

Trump- or rather his dumbass supporters- spent $3 million to lose by more votes in Wisconsin than they originally did. Naturally they've then filed yet another court case to try and prevent certification.

Money well spent by true patriots. Nothing to see here.

You do understand they did the recount to contest absentee ballots of which they now have well of 100k set aside which they'll probably end up contesting in court.

I guess not.

And when SCOTUS tells them to fuck off, what then? Because surely they know that is what's going to happen? Will Trump claim the entire legal apparatus is part of the conspiracy?

Well it looks likely to be as successful as their other challenges-

Obviously a big part of all this is about him being the smallest, vainest human on planet earth, the very personification of Narcissistic Personality Disorder in a suit, and never wasting an opportunity to grift hordes of patriot simpletons out of their benjamins.

I do wonder though if part of their continuously orchestrated manipulation and incitement of a decent chunk of the US populace is about aiming to render attempts to prosecute him once out of office feel more trouble than they’re worth, in a horribly fractured nation with plenty else on its plate. Any “They stole an election from him, now they’re trying to put our president in jail, we won’t stand for it” style social unrest certainly won’t be unwelcome to his personal interests.

As unspeakably ridiculous as he and Giuliani are, and as insane as their behaviour so clearly is, he’s got plenty of low, animal cunning, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s at least some method behind the madness, beyond the primary poundshop despot routine.

They will appeal SCOTUS to SCOTUS....

That’ll be the end of it, legally. We’ll still have the Kraken and GOP suits which will pass some time, but once the Electoral College votes go in on the 14th December I think that’s game over. It’s just a matter of whether he needs to be escorted off the premises and searched for stolen cutlery on the 20th January, or he goes quietly.

I don't believe he ever thought anything would happen via the courts. I think his gameplan is to stir up enough popular opinion to give the Electoral College voters confidence to vote for him. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen - I suspect he'll end up being taken for a drive by the Republicans, like Paulie Gatto.

I don’t think there’s much hope for the Electoral College because it would rely on the GOP legislature in the states somehow overturning the slate of electors and imposing their own, which the state laws say they cannot do.

I do think he’s making sure that sweet, sweet MAGA donation money keeps rolling in to pay off his campaign debt.

Pennsylvania certification temporary blocked?

It only seems to effect those counties yet to certify their counts, not the full certification yesterday. Certification was possible yesterday because the remaining couple of counties don’t contain enough votes to affect the result.

PA Supreme Court just tossed this case with prejudice, meaning no bringing it back in PA. Two local Republican senators tried to kick either the mail in ballots, or in the alternative the entire election, on the basis of the law allowing mail in ballots. Despite the fact they voted in the PA legislature for that law to be enacted over a year ago. And despite the fact there had already been local elections run under it. All so the the Republican legislature could pick the slate of electors sent to the Electoral College. Basically trying to steal the Pennsylvania election. Anyway, chalk up another loss for the bad guys.

The Senate Co-Sponsorship Memoranda, that apparently, if successful, can bypass the Governor. It’s all very silly now. I doubt whether they’ll muster all 20 odd Republicans.

If you look at the John Fetterman thread above my post you’ll see that has little to zero chance of happening.
