C'mon man - you can't be serious. It was planned months in advance, advertised by Trump himself in advance, then on the day and they had already reacted to BLM folks outside the White House and throughout DC in a very different way. It took them an hour to get to the Capitol, then another 90 minutes for it to kickoff. The White House specifically prevented local and federal law support for another two hours as it was going on.

They should've cancelled police leave so they couldn't go.

Well, according to the WSJ, the intention (by Capitol security forces) was the have a less visible police force for the confirmation, apparently they though that would reduce the possibility of confrontation. For some reason, they thought the protestors would not be trying to break into the building. If that is all bullshit, the problem is, what was the CPDs plan then? To collude with the Trump supporters and do exactly what?

I don't doubt the WH was not keen on helping, after organizing the rally and Trump's speech. Which also poses the question, what exactly was Trump hoping to achieve?

I think in a weird sort of way, the BLM media backlash and also a bit of being blase because they were white Trumpers had a lot to do with the scaling down of the security detail, and then once it turned nasty Trump didnt want his loved ones obliterated on camera and the adults in the room were to scared to go against him until it got that out of hand and there was little choice for Pence to bring in the National Guard as Trump wouldn't.

There’s a beautiful detail though.

Apparently he tweeted just before he died ‘nothing is gonna stop us’

Thats the cherry right there.

I’ll link the tweet when I find it.

It's actually quite funny how a buffoon like Trump gets trotted out as America's pioneering dalliance with Nazism... when high profile, US-as-apple-pie companies like Westinghouse, whose operations were hardly covert to the government, helped re-arm Germany under fledgling Nazi rule.

And IBM built and supplied the Death Camp tabulating machines, so the inmates could all have their individualised tattoo numbers.

To stay relevant.

I get the tactic of always playing the worst possible hardball, never accepting the election results. What was he hoping to achieve with protestors breaking into the building? What happened on Wednesday weakened his position in the Republican party.

Quote

One Republican senator who says he’s been in touch with senior White House aides about the matter claims the president was “delighted.”

“I don’t have any idea what was in his heart about what he wanted to happen once they were in the Capitol, but he wanted there to be chaos,” Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) said, during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt Friday morning.

“And I’m sure you’ve also had conversations with other senior White House officials, as I have,” Sasse continued. “As this was unfolding on television, Donald Trump was walking around the White House confused about why other people on his team weren’t as excited as he was as you had rioters pushing against Capitol Police trying to get into the building.”

Sasse added: “He was delighted.”

This account generally coincides with otherreporting, sourced to anonymous White House aides, about how Trump responded to his supporters’ actions, and why he took so long to tell them to “go home.” (Though an adviser who spoke to New York magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi said that Trump disliked the optics of the mob, viewing them as “low class.”)

Mate - he thinks he is bigger than the Republican party, for him they are part of the problem - he was actively working to cause as much chaos as possible. You know that.

He tweeted this over an hour after the confrontation with police had started (remember the Law and Order President) and 40 minutes after Congressfolks had to be evacuated, this was after a cop had been cracked on the head - he later died:

“Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

15 minutes later shots were fired.

Nearly half the country voted for this lunatic cunt.

The voter turnout was 66.3% of eligible voters. Capitalism is failing a lot of people in the worlds biggest single economy and yet 35% cant be bothered to to turn up to try to better their lives.

No, the question was more along the lines of the theory of outright collusion between the Capitol security forces and pro-Trump protestors.

There was a video of police opening the gates for them. Also, look at the difference in security between the other night (when the internet had been awash with plans for a kick-off) vs the BLM protests. There was absolute collusion. Trump wanted what happened to happen. he wanted the ballot readings disrupted, he wanted the building evacuated so they couldn't get it done on the 6th. Unfortunately for him it didn't pan out as bad as he wanted.

And then get it done on the 7th, after mostly universal condemnation of what happened?

They have their own budget which is a point of serious debate here as it has grown massively in the 2000's to the point where they are struggling to come up with accountability as to where it all goes. It has nothing to do with the Defense Dept budget.

Thanks, after reading some of what's here on the last couple of pages I can see now that it looks like Trump was behind it. You'd think normally that would have him impeached over the next week or so but I guess we just wait and see.
