Bill Withers.

I tried with Scott Walker but just didn't get it at all.

+1. Tried Walker too but had to give up

Scott 4 is a brilliant album and even his other more experimental albums are very good. But I'm a big Bill Withers fan. Use Me is one of my most favourite ever songs so I'll vote for Bill.

One of the great clav tracks ever.

I used to have a Bill Withers album I got from Probe, it was a compilation but it had loads of short tracks on it including that one, didn't that have gunshot at the end?

Another track was Grandma's hands, another album that takes me back.

The whole Still Bill album (including Use Me) is an absolute peach of an LP. Very underrated.

Bill was boss. Add in the fact he had a really bad stammer when he was a young kid and ended up pulling out the tunes he did says a hell of a lot on its own. “Use Me”, boss clav and that drum beat.

Walker though, just edges it for his 60’s stuff. Scott 4 being the stand out for me. He told a tale like no other could. Jackie is one of my all time favourite tunes. The experimental stuff is well out there but the process behind his art is really interesting to watch/read about.
