It depends on the type and location of the cancer, with Lymphoma. If it is near to the spine then the risk of transfer to the brain becomes more likely. Mine was on the adrenal glands and near to the spine, and it required ten really fucking uncomfortable intrathecal lumber punctures - spinal taps! Horrible, but necessary to track for any possible spread. 

 

The good thing there was the Dude's really positive attitude towards it: you need a bit of that.
