Fans back in stadiums

Are some teams more affected than others over the lack of fans? Does this ridiculous and unprecedented drop in form show how much our players need the crowd?

Rival fans would mock, but maybe it shows how close the fans are to players at each club. Our ex players always say how the fans mean they’ll be liverpool fans for life. At the end of the match, particularly away, they seem to really connect with fans. In Madrid, when they came over to sing YNWA it was like we were all on the same level despite the huge wages, dirty money, cynicism, and commercialisation of the game. It was almost spiritual.
I think the fan/ player relationship is much closer at Liverpool than most clubs, if not all.

These lads needs us.

It would be ridiculous to take a chance on a one-off set of league games , far better to just leave it to trial at the Euro games and then let it kick in properly next season.

As for the City thing I am not arsed either way , nobody outside City's fanbase has given a shit about anything they have won since the Aguero goal.

Even City’s original fanbase aren’t all that arsed. I know a lad, proper sound. A manc and (was) a city fan. Says all the fun’s gone since the ground move etc. Now goes to watch Wigan/ non league with his mates.

Oppo fans mocked the West Brom draw 'celebrations', but then their team would never get a Barcelona semi final result either.

At the very least, I think Liverpool draw as much from their own supporters as any team does. Add to a potential slight championship 'hangover', a ridiculous injury list and some dodgy refereeing,  and you have a near perfect storm of shitness.

And yet! Still in the CL quarter finals.

It would be a real kick in the nads to allow city fans to see their team presented with the trophy.

We should be allowed to celebrate our title with the trophy at our last home game of the season if they are.

Fuck that. It’s gone. A big roar of applause when the team first run out at Anfield to a full house and everyone will know what it means then get on with winning it again

I have no issue at all with games being in front of fans. I don't really see what the chance is. We'll be back to full stadia next season as long as some new superstrain doesn't fuck us up. 25% for the last game is great even if I'm pretty unlikely to get a ticket because I went to wba.

Spot on. I don't get this idea we celebrate once we're not champions. Let's just win number 7 and party for that.

Any celebrations over title win now would be embarrassing.

It sadly just has to go down as the shittest quirk of fate that we waited 30 bastard years and when we finally won it, we did so in the middle of a fucking pandemic and had to receive trophy in a deserted stadium.

I'd like to think it makes the players and staff extra motivated to win it again and be able to share the joy properly in a full stadium and with a massive parade....but apart from a standing ovation at first home game with something like whatever the 'new normal' is gonna be - anything else would be embarrassing now.

Not arsed to be honest....Cant see their celebration being any different to the embarrassing one in they had in 2019 .

At least when we look back on is winning it over two thirds of the games were in packed stadiums in fact we actually gained enough points to have won it like that .

I’d have felt more gutted to see us win the league in a whole season of empty soulless  stadiums

Yeah true we had actually won it by the time the lockdowns started.

I’m not fucking arsed about this restricted shite. I want the full thing, stadium packed to the rafters, no masks and people hugging each other and sharing in the euphoria of scoring a goal. Let city have their hollow tin pot celebration, the gang of cunts.

Just went looking for this post. The last sentence still makes me laugh hard when I remember it. You have a writing talent mate, don’t know what it is.

I think they’ve done surprisingly well. I read somewhere they don’t have such an ageing population as the UK so makes sense.
