Sokratis had his contract cancelled at Arsenal, knows Jurgen from Dortmund , very experienced and might take a short-term contract. Wouldn't be in the running normally but needs must ?

Don't think replacing our slow but young defenders with a slow veteran defender is going to help us in any way.

Thats cause he can't fucking run

Reckon Nat Phillips could give him a 10 yard headstart over 15 yards and still win

What the fuck?! You telling me there isn’t one centre back available, even at a shit Steven Caulker level who can just do the basics? Who wants to play for liverpool? In the whole of Europe? For a year or so.

Did Caulker even manage a second for us at centre half?

Militao has scored for Real Madrid tonight. If he's going to move, it's more likely to be at the very end of the transfer window.

Ramos and Varane are both injured at the moment as well. Think they'll both be back fairly soon, but seems unlikely they'd loan out a centre back at the moment.

Think they are waiting for alaba to join before letting militao go.

Of course it would. Sokratis would be nowhere near the top of any list of mine, but he's light years better than both Williams and Philipps. Also, when fabinho picks up a knock (even of it's for just 2 weeks), it would make sense to have an experienced player back there rather than needing to pair Williams with Phillips. If we genuinely have nothing to spend I'd take Sokratis to see if we can get out of him what we got out of Adrian for half a season. What would he cost? 50/60k per week for 6 months?

I picked up a strange story from the echo this morning. I don't normally read their stuff, but it distracted me while having my morning shit.

Liverpool's rivals have finally found a way to stop Roberto Firmino

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-rivals-roberto-firmino-stop-19662945#ICID=Android_LFCEchoNewsApp_AppShare

They're basically saying Bobby is shit on his left foot and because we have thiago now, we need a real number 9.

Extra, extra read all about it! Liverpool forward scores more goals with his stronger foot!

Thanks for clarifying, I was beginning to think I was missing something. Does the Opta defined clear cut chance still count if Harry Maguire blocks said chance, I'm just not up to the Opta shit. I just saw Firmino have a few miserable efforts on goal but the one thats actually blocked I wouldn't blame him for.

However after reading the article I've now come to the conclusion that maybe it's all Thiago's fault!!

I hope BW wiped his arse with the article!!

I thought Bobby and Minamino linked up effectively and played really well against Palace, but maybe that was an outlier, dunno. Also, have we seen Minamino since?

Haven't seen him since, off to the gallows, so no idea if outlier or not.

Agree the movement was excellent, I thought he might start in next couple of games and rotation would help. Klopp is pretty loyal to the front 3 on the whole, I only hope they wake up from their slumber. A ricochet, Own goal, dodgy pen or even a fckin VAR decision like City offside would suffice!

    • But @Denny Crane the governing model of Liverpool hasn't changed since the club's founding has it?  The club has always been owned by a variety of rich people and governed by a board made up of these rich people.  In the past there have been different majority shareholders, right now it's FSG.   I think there would have been an outside chance of majority fan ownership at the price that Moores sold at - plus he might have been persuaded into it rather than looking to maximise his cash out - but it would have needed to be managed by the club itself and not competing supporters groups.  Unfortunately at the time the club board and Parry had no vision whatsoever, and couldn't even keep the season ticket waiting list on a computer.  Never mind being able to organise a membership scheme.    The only way we're getting a different ownership model now is if the club goes bust or you have a time machine.
    • Nice to see Timmy Cahill in the back there
    • I thought a new corporate structure was required but here he walks through the steps.
    • Usual Twatter rumours that Jota is injured as wasn’t pictured in training and could be out for Utd game too....Sad thing is they’re usually true
    • Lee, Labour have had a bit on football ownership in their election manifestos for around a decade. The focus has been on good governance and supporters trusts to get stakes in football clubs. The sound argument put forward has long been that football is incapable of regulating itself. It needs people whose sole aim isn't growth to have an influence or veto. This is why we are where we are today. A sport with Oligarchs, Hedge Fund owners and Sheikhs dictating the terms of how football evolves.
